When AIDS broke out I decided to stay in a monogamous relationship with one woman, and so far I've kept free of AIDS and all other STDs.

 

It's like I've always said, AIDS has done good things for this country.

 

Any law that forces the vaccination of an individual is a violation of the human right to control one's own body. There is no such thing as "public health" indepedent of "individual health." If I choose not to get vaccinated, then I must accept the consequences that may arise as a result. Likewise, people make a choice to give oral sex to stranger who may have certain diseases. If they are not certain the person has been vaccinated, it is their choice to have sex with them anyway.

I am not religious, I am not against oral sex, and I think that it would be wise for people to get vaccinated against these diseases. But I also understand that I have no right to control the lives of others against their will.

 

ya we do, no one has the right to recklessly spread deadly diseases among the population, small pox, ebola, polio, sars, plague are deadly killers...knowingly doing so is the same as walking around randomly firing a loaded gun in public spaces killing people...already there has been a murder conviction for a man with HIV who had sex with two women killing them...your freewill ends when your behaviour endangers others right to life...

 

Women who have not yet been vaccinated against these infections are not harming anyone by declining to receive such vaccinations. You are criminalizing women before they even have a chance to act

The harm is inflicing during the act of sex by the individual with the disease. There is no harm inflicted on anyone when a healthy woman refuses a vaccination.

Err, no, you don't force vaccinations on people. Like Liberalis said, that's criminalising them before they've done anything. I'm not promiscuous; I do nothing to warrant a forced vaccination.

 

Individuals are reponsible for their own actions. Unprotected sex with strangers is more likely to result in the contraction of an STD. If somebody lies about a disease they have and they pass it on, they should be prosecuted for it. At the core this issue has nothing to do with religion, and it is no philosophical game.

You are claiming to have a greater right to someone's own body than they do themselves. And your justification for such authority is that said person may one day contract a disease that will harm the public health. But the harm is done during the sexual act, not by refusing to be injected with a needle.

If you believe that a woman can lose the right to control her body in the name of public health, then you must also believe that people with such diseases should be removed from society, for they are far greater threats to the "public health", human nature being what it is of course, than the healthy women who refuse to get the vaccination. For these healthy women cannot contract the disease if anyone carrying the disease is removed, no?

more ridiculous extensions of logic, who said you were a criminal? ...you can only guarantee your own conduct and unless have plans to be celibate your entire life you cannot guarantee that you will not infect others...you can never be 100% sure any partners you have are being honest about their past relationships nor they about their previous partners...

Your argument is not a good one. Lack of sex causes some to go out and rape women.

it is a fact that violent sex crime is lower in countries that have more liberal sex laws.

I am perfectly aware of that. The person responsible in the first place is the individual engaging in the potentially risky sexual behavior.

This is about personal responsibility. If you are so concerned about getting infected, stick a needle in yourself. Those who do not want to can face the risks and accept the consequences. All men and women should have control over their own bodies. Calling something public health does not override this fundamental right.

 

And if you get into a car you can not guarantee you will never get in a crash. That does not mean force everyone to ride a train or give up driving. Life comes with risks that people choose--get used to it.
