In a move that shows the movement was never about bailouts, the OWS crowd has decided to occupy retailers on black fiday. http://www.cnbc.com/id/45402815

Black Friday has what to do with bailouts again? Oh right, nothing. The OWS movement is just a collection of privileged drug fueled idiots reacting to the reality that daddy's money can't support them forever and their degree in dope smoking can't afford them a six figure lifestyle. Now they protest the capitalist system that has afforded them the luxury of being oblivious to how goods are produced and how wages are earned.

Now they stand to prevent the 99% they claim to represent from Christmas shopping for their loved ones.

    Way to go! Brilliant move!

How can anyone be so stupid as to think that hurting businesses, many of which rely on the Christmas sales to survive, can be good for our country? Their ideology is evil.

I know some women who shop on black friday. They get really serious about it, and trust me, if there is any form of confrontation, name calling, yelling at these women, the protesters are in for a rude awakening.

Hopefully none of them get stampeded. Though, they've certainly earned it.

From the article: "A few of the retailers the protesters plan on targeting include Neiman Marcus, Amazon and Wal-Mart."

HUH??? They are going to protest a virtual store?

Some demonstrators are planning to occupy retailers on Black Friday to protest "the business that are in the pockets of Wall Street."

Organizers are encouraging consumers to either occupy or boycott retailers that are publicly traded, according to the Stop Black Friday website.

The goal of the movement is to impact the profits of major corporations this holiday season.

"The idea is simple, hit the corporations that corrupt and control American politics where it hurts, their profits, " states the Occupy Black Friday Facebook page.

A few of the retailers the protesters plan on targeting include Neiman Marcus, Amazon and Wal-Mart.

    Their website states the following:

"Keep in mind that we are not occupying small businesses or hardworking people—we must make a distinction between the businesses that are in the pockets of Wall Street and the businesses that serve our local communities.

We are NOT anti-capitalist. Just anti-crapitalist.

Below is a shortlist for publicly traded large businesses to Occupy or to boycott on Black Friday. Luckily, most of them don't have good presents anyway. If you want to see the top 100 retail businesses for 2010 to boycott, click here.

Are they actually too stupid to realize that by occupying businesses that they feel are in the pockets of Wall St. they will be hurting those hard working people???

If the businesses don't get business, the hard working people will be let go, fired or laid off.

They can occupy a few stores here and there but there aren't enough of them to have a major impact.

LOL I imagine their numbers are going to look pretty paltry compared to the mad rush to retailers........

That 99% claim of the Occupiers is growing ever harder to believe..........more like .001%

With today's economy, with or without the OWS protestors, nobody is going to be "rushing" to the stores on Friday.

What better way to show the CEOs of Wallmart and the big chains that the 99% add up than to protest on Friday, their biggest retail day of the year.. Then on Saturday they can visit smaller businesses their own people own and operate.

One way or another, corporate American is going to notice what it has done to the People that live here..

They should have something like "no-gas Fridays", where everyone agrees to not purchase a single drop of gas on any given Friday. Maybe no-lights Monday? Where people use candles to see by and keep all their appliances and lights turned off? This could be fun. OWS could even follow a jingle like

Sunday's the day when We plan the week ahead
Monday's the day when We read by candles in bed
Tuesday's the day when We don't buy "Made in China"
Wednesday's the day We tell the Lotto "another time-a"
Thursday's the day We don't drink any booze
Friday's the day We tell BigOil "you lose!"
Saturday's the day We look back with a grin..
And if we keep this up We know that We will surely win..

That pretty much sums up the monopolies that lobby Congress the most. BigEnergy, BigChina, BigGambling, BigBooze, BigOil... Of course there's BigPharma too. I'll think of a jingle where people can wean themselves off their plethora of prescription meds next..

I've got a daughter who works for Old Navy. They have treated her very well. Please explain why I should hate Old Navy and try to drive them into bankruptcy?

tell that to the people who are already camped out at Best Buy or the throngs who will be rushing into WalMart

Reality has a tendency to get in the way of numbskulls like the liberal OWS people.

The article actually says that they are only targeting publicly traded businesses, which means they are only targeting big businesses.

Sounds more like a boycott and perhaps flier distribution and picketing than anything. I know I wont spend a dime on Friday. Of course I already convinced my family a few years ago that exchanging presents wasn't worth it.

Publicly traded businesses, meaning the businesses that many hard working middle-class Americans have invested their savings in.

    Sheer OccuTard brilliance...:psychoitc:

I would venture to say, yes, they are.

In 2008 a Walmart employee was trampled to death by crazed Black Friday shoppers.

I don't think the OWS people are going to keep anyone out of the store who wants to go in.

You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. Nobody seems to care about the minimum wage workers that slave away in these corporations with no benefits.

Until the middle class learns to align their interests to the working class, they don't deserve what they have as managers of the exploited anyway.

You shouldn't. Maybe instead you should insist that Old Navy carry American made apparel. That will help your daughter keep her job. Old Navy isn't the problem: NAFTA is.. If you want to keep the prices down on American made apparel, support universal healthcare because, after all, that is a major component in why the hypocritical garment industry locates offshore, and then lobbies here to keep healthcare away only from Americans. I swear that healthcare is the root cause of the demise of our entire economy.

Old Navy (Gap Inc.) isn't a publicly traded big business? I don't think you know what you're talking about. So why should I hate my daughter's store again that has treated her so well?

How much do they pay her? Do they give her full health coverage? How much do they pay the worker's below her? Where is the clothing made? Define "treated well".

That is the politician's doing, not Old Navy's. Old Navy is in the business of getting the best products at the lowest prices to their customers.
