A good reason to not vote for Biden. I never heard him suggest this about the Christian faith. "I wish we taught more in our schools about the Islamic faith”. – Joe Biden Emgage Action, the country’s largest Muslim American PAC, endorsed Biden in April after endorsing Bernie Sanders during the Democratic primary.
Perhaps if more were understood about the Islamic faith, fewer people would assume that all Muslims or people of the Islamic faith were terrorists.
Hmm.... I'm not sure that folks are so against muslim faith as they are sha'ria law, the subjugation of women, the abhorrence of gay folk, honor killings, I mean those are all things that democrats publicly say they are against, and yet, here we are '"embracing".... It sends a lot of mixed signals about you folks.
Who the hell wants to know more about such a religion, much less teach it in schools. Crazy Joe Biden is a pandering joke.
Yeah... the left would tolerate real Islamic ideals like a hole in the head. They burn gay people alive, its totally acceptable to beat your wife for an offense (but not too much mind you) and if your daughter dates a boy the family does not approve of her to marry its perfectly acceptable for her relatives to stone her to death. Women are basically chattel.
Personally I don't see the point of teaching ANY religion in schools. In regards to Muslims in the US, I will say, I've spent 18 years coaching in a town where there is a very high population of Muslims and to my knowledge not one honor killing among them. Might some abhor gays? Sure but probably no more than many conservatives on this forum do. Might some subjugate women? Probably, but I haven't witnessed or heard about it but who knows. I'm willing to bet their are non-Muslims in this country who subjugate women too.
Actually you did not complete what he said. He said, "I wish we taught more in our schools about the Islamic faith. I wish we talked about all the great confessional faiths." https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-muslim-voters-summit-taught-schools-islamic-faith It sounds like he may have been talking about knowledge not endorsing the Islamic religion.
He also claims he wrote The Patriot Act, so this brings balance to the force. Joe Biden Brags About Having Written the Patriot Act. It was opposed by civil libertarians and many Republicans who were worried it would be used to target conservative groups. Biden’s legislation never passed but the Patriot Act did after 9/11, creating the pervasive surveillance regime that’s still in place today. The Patriot Act’s most frequent targets have been domestic drug dealers.
You need to understand how 'pandering' works. Its about doing something or supporting something inconsistent with your views, your philosophy in order to get votes or money etc. What you need to provide here, is a series of his anti-muslim statements over the last 30 years he has been in office, where he never wanted American students to learn about Islam, or Judaism or Hinduism or Shinto, etc, until he decided he needed Muslim American votes. If he has always believed in teaching about other countries cultures, other countries religions, and histories geography etc in American schools, then this is not pandering, it is consistent with what he thinks schools should be doing to provide a well rounded education. Comparing it to Christianity, is a non-starter in this instance, because we already will have absorbed the basics of Christianity simply by living and growing up in a Christian country. I never accused McCain of pandering to military families or selling out to Boeing, when he talking about getting more bombers, because I knew that McCain has held the same views for decades before he needed votes or a big check from Boeing.
Hmm, sounds like the recent generation of Republicans. Establishment and organizational activity[edit] Falwell and Weyrich founded the Moral Majority in June 1979.[8] According to former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, who was Texas evangelist James Robison's communications director at the time, Robison's "Freedom Rally" at the Dallas Convention Center was the genesis of the Moral Majority.[9] The Moral Majority was predominately a Southern-oriented organization of the Christian Right, although its state chapters and political activity extended beyond the South.[2] The number of state chapters grew quickly, with organizations in eighteen states by 1980.[10][11] The variety of resources available to the Moral Majority at its founding facilitated this rapid expansion, and included Falwell's mailing list from his program, Old Time Gospel Hour. In addition, the Moral Majority took control of the Old Time Gospel Hour's publication, Journal Champion, which had been distributed to the show's donors.[12] Through the 1980s, Falwell was the organization's best-known spokesperson. By 1982, Moral Majority surpassed Christian Voice in size and influence. The Moral Majority's headquarters were in Lynchburg, Virginia, where Falwell was the presiding minister of the nation's largest independent Baptist church, Thomas Road Baptist Church. Virginia has been a seat of Christian Right politics, being the state where the Christian Coalition's first headquarters were established. Falwell was at the head of the Moral Majority and maintained an advisory board, constituting the organization's primary leadership. This leadership was drawn mostly from Falwell's fellow members of the Baptist Bible Fellowship. Falwell insisted the Moral Majority leadership also include Catholics and Jews, although not all members of the leadership approved of this inclusion.[13] The Moral Majority was an organization made up of conservative Christian political action committees which campaigned on issues its personnel believed were important to maintaining its Christian conception of moral law. They believed this represented the opinions of the majority of Americans (hence the movement's name). With a membership of millions, the Moral Majority became one of the largest conservative lobby groups in the United States and at its height, it claimed more than four million members and over two million donors.[14] These members were spread among about twenty state organizations, of which Washington State's was the largest. The Moral Majority was incorporated into the Liberty Federation in 1985, remaining a distinct entity but falling under the Liberty Federation's larger jurisdiction. By 1987, Falwell retired as the formal head of the Moral Majority, and was succeeded by Jerry Nims,[15][16] although he maintained an active and visible role within the organization. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_Majority They are old today. In their 70s and 80s. But most are big tRUMP supporters today. Republicans, less than 10 yr ago, fought tooth and nail against gay marriage. They would like the Christian version of Sharia law in the USA. Bet on it.
Thanks for a good chuckle. I can see that this opinion was formed through careful study and in depth discussions with Christian's and republicans together. Or. Perhaps an opinion formed after a 30 second sound bite on a Maddow show. Ya.... I'm going with door #2.
People assume muslims are terrorists because if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. They say not all muslims are terrorists but so far all the terrorist have been muslims. No other religion in the world radicalizes their people and urges them to be in a constant state of war. No other religion sends their children into a crowd with bombs strapped to them. No other religion treats women as chattel. Their mission is to eradicate the west and turn the world into a primitive theocracy. Honestly I don't know why they are here in America, it is the polar opposite of all they believe. All of the muslims I've had the misfortune of interacting with reeked their hatred and disregard for us they are rude and vitriolic and anti American. Every muslim is a militant, Ilhan Omar is the jihadi poster child. So tell me what is it I don't understand?
