Well, auto manufacturers don't agree with you. I think prices will come down. Today there is essentially no competition. Plus, the investment in new manufacturing is huge - these companies need to recoup their investment to some degree.
I think you have to remember that propane is a known direction. And, NOBODY is finding that interesting. Today's EVs are cheaper on fuel per mile and cheaper on maintenance. And, that was true before the recent skyrocketing gas prices.
Just don't crash that EV and don't get hurt. I also recommend a Nomex® Indy Car style racing suit. There are enough videos on Youtube® showing the actual range of any number of EV's. One electric pickup truck was reduced to 129 miles while towing a camp trailer. That would be 1,068 miles and 8+ charging stops between Los Angeles and Yellowstone National Park. Hope they have a long vacation.
Another vote for giving the EV market to China.. Government investment has been part of capitalism has been part of capitalism since the 1800s. For the Brits, it was nearly 2 centuries earlier...
Yes, that's exactly what I said. Thanks for repeating it verbatim. Have any more strawmen you want to kick around and pretend you smashed?
Auto makers are jumping on the EV bandwagon for the same reason T. Boone Pickens and Warren Buffet jumped on wind and solar farms and Elon Musk is worth billions without ever owning a company that ever made a profit. And as usual you never address most of what anybody says, anyway, you just repeat the narrative as if nobody said anything else.
I was making the opposite point, and it wasn't verbatim. Look up the definition. A quarter century ago, when the Prius came out, Rights were saying the same things. They were also wrong. It will take time, there will be difficulties, but it's coming.
" It costs about 17 cents to drive one mile in an average gas-powered vehicle versus roughly 5 cents to drive one mile in an electric vehicle." https://www.verifythis.com/article/news/verify/money-verify/no-gas-vehicles-not-cheaper-than-electric-to-drive That was based on gas costing $4.34/gallon and an average car getting 26mpg, and $.15/kwh for electricity. I'm open to seeing your analysis.
"Tesla said on Wednesday that it made a $3.3 billion profit in the first three months of the year, up from $438 million a year earlier and the biggest quarterly profit since the company's creation." https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/20/...a said on Wednesday that, for the rest of 2022. Musk started PayPal, which is highly profitable.
We shall see. Doesn't do anything to reduce charging time. Biden sets standards for national EV charging network
Of course it has nothing to do with charging time. What it DOES do is make charging stations not car manufacturer specific. We have standards for gasoline - regular, nonleaded, etc. The result of that standard is that if you own a Ford you don't have to search for Ford gasoline. With the EV charging standard, if you own a VW EV, you won't have to search for a VW charging station. Also, if you own a hotel or apartment building or business, you can offer charging to tenets, employees and customers without having to have equipment for charging each model's version. Car manufacturers want this standard.
A federally financed network of charging stations is a subsidy for electric vehicles. The scandal will come in decisions about who gets the charging station contracts.
Standards don't include subsidies. And again, everybody interested in EVs wants standardized charging - manufacturers, EV owners, and all the rest. The US government may well contribute to charging station construction. But, that doesn't have to do with standards, other than that those stations need to be able to charge all EVs.
That's just a cheap shot at all construction where government has a role - roads, bridges, electrical power transmission, water, military equipment and logistics, etc., etc.
Oh, please. Every bridge, every city street, every public parking lot has publicly funded electrification. There is NO magic to adding a charge point.
New contracts with, no doubt, new vendors. Lots of money and friends/relatives of county officials. Much like the plunder of COVID funds over the last couple of years.
Elon's been churning out expensive toys for upper middle class and rich folks for over a decade now. He thinks his cars are world changers. They aren't. They're interesting and fun but they aren't changing the world. Had Elon bothered to come out with a basic EV with performance comparable to an average economy car, 250-300 mile range and just the basics at a price tag between $18-25K, he could rightfully make such a claim just as Henry Ford did when HE came out with a car that ANY working man could afford. No Ferrari beating acceleration, no fart noises, no self parking, no self driving, no stupid pet tricks, just a basic cheap EV for everyday commuters. And a super affordable price tag. That's what would change the world.
2-3% new car sales is hardly overwhelming maybe we get to 10% by 2030 .. the date the Enviro Pundits were predicting we would be all green .. some car manufacturers were claiming they would be all electric.. The reality mate -- is quite underwhelming .. and the clock is ticking.
FYI, the entire roadway is tax financed. There are thousands upon thousands of charging stations, even now at local WaWa places. Still care to make a wager. BTW no way one company is getting all the work.
