So, a book you are free to ignore in a drawer you don't open in a room of a building you do not own is the same as someone walking up to your door?

Both involve individuals attempting to indoctrinate....and both involve religion, which I find irritating.

I still don't know why you object to a book being in your proximity that you don't need to see or read? There's no indoctrination there in any way.

Indoctrination is what our students are subjected to on virtually every state university campus in America.

How is a book you are free to ignore an attempt at indoctrination?

Not a big deal. Anybody with a smartphone or ereader can have a bible at a seconds' notice. Love the way liberals are intolerant bigots who love censorship.

    - - - Updated - - -

The Gideons (a religious group) provide Bibles for hotel rooms at no cost to the hotel. This is just an example of liberal intolerance. Hypocrites.....

    - - - Updated - - -

The Bibles cost the state nothing.

The story says that the hotel in question has two libraries, and that copies of the Bible are available from those libraries.

    - - - Updated - - -

The hotels don't supply the Bibles. A group called the Gideons provide the Bible to hotels at no cost.

If you don't like the Bible, stay out of the dresser drawers in hotel rooms. I hope that doesn't interfere with your sleep....

There is a very profound difference between indoctrination and education.

If a group of people representing Islam wanted to put their holy book in hotel rooms I wouldn't care. Of course they wouldn't do that because they believe that book is defiled if touched by an infidel. Plus they don't want me to read it for fear of what I might discover about their faith.

I am free to read or ignore any reading material placed in a hotel room. I spend nights here and there in a motel room and I don't even know if a bible was placed there. I never noticed.

And our state run universities don't really care about that difference.

If I were to place a flier of a satanic ritual on your doorstep with the hope you would see it...am I attempting to sway your choice?

    - - - Updated - - -

....Uh....apparently they actually do according to this thread.

That does not equal indoctrination. I would throw it in my fireplace. Then, if it bothered me that much I could always post a sign telling people to stay off my property.

I'm not religious, and I don't see the problem with Bibles being in hotel rooms. Are they really hurting anything? If you're a hardcore atheist, or whatever, just don't look at it. No one is forcing you. Either way, I guess this is no big deal. Guests can still bring their own bible(s) if they so desire.

more Christian-ophia.... it's not good enough you don't believe, you must prevent others from seeing it, too. We wouldn't want them making a decision contrary to yours, now would we.

I don't care. I don't have some allergic reaction when I see a Book of Mormon, or a Koran

I actually picked up a koran once to browse, but it was in Arabic.

Maybe I will and then maybe not.

I'm still trying to figure out people object to book being in a night stand drawer, even if they don't know if it's there.

Now the left wing types want to say every viewpoint on every subject on earth should be provided and if that's not possible, nothing should be allowed.

I find a lot of Christians....who "love the Bible"....don't actually know much about what's in it.

For instance, many of them think God "loves children"...when in fact, He ordered infanticide.
