No blocks here. A few have blocked me but it allows me to post in response to them in peace. Kind of nice, actually.
You always talk of "interesting conversations" as if there was nothing else on the Internet. And indirectly accuse me of being "delicate". Obviously you have never been insulted? Do you not know insults? I am beginning get tired of this euphoria - and the idea that the Internet is so completely civilized and insult-free.
I already clarified that I do not have anyone blocked or on ignore since I both abhor censorship and am curious as to what even a vulgar fool has to say. I much prefer to have civil discussions and will not stoop to insulting others but as I have already said, once someone has to result to slander they have only confirmed that they have lost the debate. Finally, I don't know any sensible person who is favorably impressed by someone else's vulgarity.
Most people who visit political 'debate' forums have relatively thick skins. Insults can be direct, or vailed. I maintain a calm exterior for the most part, though I have stooped to some people's lower levels on occasion. We are only human, after all. I have no one blocked, I believe even the most loutish people will occasionally have some bit of wisdom to impart. If they are up to their normal standard of screeching, I just scroll on by. I know that there is at least one poster who has me blocked, when faced with something they couldn't answer, the ran to insults and blocking me. Eh, no major loss to me. Civility is a rare bird these days. You just have to let it roll off.
I agree; I don't block any poster. We have to hear what others are saying to understand what this country's future may be.
I think the future is full of thin skinned Americans. Emotionally and physically weak people. In my opinion ofcoarse.
I have blocked people occasionally...but people I've blocked were eventually unblocked or they left. I tend not to block anyone now. In past I've had problems with people who don't transmit ideas but consistently throw out snotty one liners.
I don't block anyone and have recently found that some especially thin skinned individuals are the first to use the most frivolous of pretexts to report Posts simply because they are unable to refute them.
I believe I have ran into that multiple times myself. It has slowed down as of recent so I’m actually thinking they blocked me finally lol.
BUT. January 1 of the new year, I unblock them. I do it rarely. But I do it because I take posting seriously (in serious topics).
You may be right. Part of Rule # 8 reads: "We welcome constructive criticism or complaints, but the public forums are not an appropriate venue for criticizing the staff, administration, or ownership of the site." Even though I omitted the name of the particular moderator, I was still discussing moderation. You're not going to rat me out, are you?
Nope, I don't play that way. I think in all my time wandering various forums since 2009, I've reported maybe 5 posts? I've had posts deleted before, and for the most lame reasons, IMO. But who reported them was usually quite obvious.
I do not suffer fools gladly, so I have an ignore list. I can at least respect an opposing opinion that has some thinking behind it.
I have only blocked one person and that was because they would constantly post meme after meme after meme just taking up data space with nothing to say. It became difficult to get to other posters and it was just out of spite. But I have never understood why you would come to a debate site and block those you disagree with. Sounds idiotic.
