"Bigger" and "More Profitable" ........how dare they.....

Democrats need to make US Businesses smaller and less profitable......or drive them to Foreign Countries all together.

So you are in favor of monopolies? No surprise coming from a corporate apologist.

You do realize that we have never, in this history of this country, had a completely free market system? Even Adam Smith supported some government intervention.

Free market just sounds cooler than regulation. Regulation is a big bad word.

Your point is valid but it's missed on most. It's sorta those same debates where people scream European countries are socialist when in reality no European country truly is socialist.

If one can't have an intellectual debate one can't even discuss certain things honestly.

Laissez-faire capitalism isn't practiced anywhere in the world. On top of that socialism had a great role in making this country an economic power. Two points that free market screamers will never accept as reality.

Other famous merger blocks included UA & US Airways, Oracle & PeopleSoft, and Nasdaq & NYSE. Remind me who was President when all those were blocked?

....Socialism is a parasite.......it doesnt show up until after prosperity has been realized.

First the people have to have money.....before the Statists start inventing ways of spending it.

I'm sure you'd love paying higher prices for your food, clothes, and everything else when the entire economy is run by monopolies.

Sad, as a T-Mobile customer I welcomed this merger. It would benefit the customer in so many ways. Besides, if the DOJ blocks this the penalty for breaking the merger agreement is 3 Billion dollars....almost enough to probably put AT&T out of business. Yes DOJ...actions do have consequences.....

Time periods matter. You re not suggesting those back in 1890 were the same as today, or for that matter Abe Lincoln?

At that period of time, Republicans actually had a clue that the free market doesn't always work out for the people.

    anti-business ? Not att all.

USA has 4 mayor wireless companies. Market shares between 18 and 26%. The merger would pit 1 GSM carrier with close to 50% market share against the 2 cdma carriers with each around 19% .

It wouldnt be long before those 2 merge and you remain with 2 companies left, cdma vs gsm. NOT going to help the customer.

They were right to block this. They needed to block the Comcast/NBC merger but didn't. Mixed bag.

I've always said, I'll give credit to Obama/Dems when I agree with them, which isn't very often. On this particular issue, I agree with 'em. Monopolies, when it comes to one product or one medium, are bad for the consumer.

agreed this merger will make them 50 percent of the phone market...

it will be a long court trial but it was a good political statement for the public.
