Here is a note for you. Most people in this nation who back Trump are not in love with Trump. They also are well aware of his clumsiness and outlandish remarks. They also sometimes cringe when he goes a bit too far in the insults.

    But…

We are not stupid like most on the left. We realize there are extremely serious issues and crises that have to be dealt with. [unlike the coward in chief these past 8 years]. And that is why we back Trump, because he is trying to overcome that which plagues the whole nation. He is trying to revitalize this economy by encouraging U.S. investments and jobs. He is attempting to build up a frightfully underequipped military and a demoralized military. These are the kinds of things the left sticks their head in the sand about and it is dangerous. Trump will deal with an open southern border in the south, pure insanity. He will deal with unvetted middle eastern migrants, this is another insane risk to take under the global circumstances we are not immersed in. He will deal with unfair and criminal trading partners. He will tell all this funding for global warming to take a hike, we got far more grave matters to deal with. The same goes for energy, we are not going to let environmentalist zealots stop the need for greater domestic oil and energy because this is a national security matter once again.

He is going to better our trade structure and penalized those U.S. companies that choose to have their products made more cheaply overseas then brought back and sold to Americans.

And many companies have responded in great moves to bring back jobs to America and start their new ventures here. This is a bold measure that is already working and the mainstream leftist media will not even mention, much less give him credit for his efforts. This is but one example of what we call being totally disingenuous and a moral sin where the left media, left politicians, academia, Hollywood, etc. put their odious agenda ahead of what is best for the nation.

The left likes the smooze and phoney pseudocelebrity types. The right wants a President that gets the job done and no BS. that's the difference.

It is time the lying clown in the White House be called out. And it is finally happening. . .not just by the Left media, but by the world media AND EVEN BY FOX NEWS!

I didn't think that day would come, but Smith sure did the job. Respect for him, he spoke up and didn't hold back, knowing full well that the Fox addicts and Trump supporters would try to get his head for this.

Since when has ignoring evidence that humans are not innately good being rational?

There is more to being rational than approving of it, just as their is more to being sympathetic than claiming you are.

Liberals are feeling faint at the sight and actions of a real leader.

Pity the poor left. They are still in it to merely win elections and public opinion. They are in it for ego and or power.

Not even one could be found in their media, government or voting ranks who gave one whit about the common good or the security of this nation. Nor have they ever heard of the words ‘sin’ or ‘morals.’ Perversion is the great freedom and pleasure the ultimate goal… that is what life is all about. Materialism, lust, pride. Live it to the fullest… and anyone who dare say we cannot, they are bigots.

So carry on y’all. To you it is style you keep attacking, not substance. Trump lies, Trump insults, Trump is mean. Big deal, Trump is also bold and intent on helping all Americans to a better and more secure life. Not good enough for the left, though. Nor will they ever learn that it is their beliefs that are so corrupt, far more than even their leaders.

I do believe that humans are innately good. I also agree that we are capable of horrors. Now what else do you want to gibber about?

    Now, now. Don't get testy.

I would like to know why you think humans are innately good. What evidence do you have?

All the evidence I see points the other way. It seems to me we need a great many laws and a great many policemen to keep people nice which I don't think would be the case if they were innately nice.

Well, if we were not innately good we would have never survived as a species. We learned to be good to larger and larger groups over time. Some of us only want to be good to fellow religious devotees or to similar politically tuned people or to a state or a nation. Some of us want to extend that to the world. But regardless of your boundaries, we do strive to be good most of the time.

I would have no idea how to respond to this. You have drunk deeply of the GOP Kool-Aid. Mr. Trump has created a cult of personality and you have bought into it completely.

That was an AMAZING press conference. Then he goes to a yuge rally in FL, and speaks right to his supporters.

His command in spite of egregious attempts to delegitimize him from the whacked out left is astounding.

Jobs, jobs, jobs... These 3 words will coalesce the labor class and along with it center of America; all to Trump.

Take More Questions, Mr. President 30 DEC 19, 2014 5:39 PM EST

President Barack Obama held his traditional year-ender news conference today. It was his first since one after the midterm elections, and only his seventh solo outing this year… There was a flurry of attention to the fact that the eight reporters Obama called on were women. That deserves attention, but I'll focus a bit on the disappointing part: just eight reporters?

I don’t have a full count , but I’m pretty sure Obama has taken far fewer questions per press conference (and therefore overall) than Bush or Clinton. Mainly because his answers are … well, long. We're talking senatorial long. Stall and delay long. The last two minutes of a football game long.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2014-12-19/barack-obamas-longwinded-news-conference

So technically, you are correct, but no one is interested in fake results. In other words, and like I already said, Obama fills up the time with meaningless rambles and prevarications. He avoids the difficult questions and possibly the difficult reporters. This is no mystery. We have all observed it for ourselves time and time again for 8 years. The guy is a total phony in every way.

Again, the data doesn't bear this out. Humans are a pretty murderous species (but not the most murderous) and have been more murderous in historical times. Paradoxically, they are also cooperative.

The connundrum is explained by kin selection: we cooperate with relatives. It appears that the optimal communnity size is the tribe. Larger units can only be held together with coercion.

Here are some links that explain these facts:

I agree that our "goodness" started out in relation to family, clan and tribal limits. But as humanity progressed, that concept of "goodness" got extended into larger and larger groups. This is shown in the sermon on the mount, the enlightenment, Locke, Paine and the Declaration of Independence and is now being contested by political parties. The very essence of the divide between left and right is about the nature of "goodness" as it pertains to politics, government, religion, social mores and so on. We are far better now then we have ever been. Liberals want to keep that going. Conservatives think we were at out best sometime in the past.

This is actually the second time you've conceded the argument that humans are inherently good. They are inherently good to their kin. That is instinctual. Being good to strangers is, as you write, an idea, an idea that can be lost and often is lost. Strangers are good to each other when it is in their mutual benefit or they are compelled to be by threats of violence from the police.
