Prices of Goods in the U.S. Did Not Rise At All Despite China Tariff Hike

The facts are in. The tariffs are being paid to the US Treasury, but on balance, American Consumers are enjoying very tame prices and none of the run away price scenarios that the naysayers so confidently predicted.

TRADE WAR: China’s growth has ground down to a 27-year low, and its economy probably can’t go on like this.

 

Things will likely get far worse in China. If they come to their senses their economy may improve.

 

And yet they clearly haven't.

It was the middle of last year when Trump stepped up the Pressure on countries consistently running surpluses against us by putting tariffs on their goods. It was predicted that they would pass these increases back to the American consumer and we would be seeing rapidly rising prices, but once again, Trump's right and the "experts" are wrong.

 

They clearly misread Trump.

Days like today are days in which it is worth having a subscription to the Wall Street Journal, because they have a story this morning that says that the Chinese made a mistake with Trump and misread him on trade.

Look at the scale on that chart. Then look at the changes over time.
Even if the tariffs were at there maximum during that time you couldn't see their effect. If you want to see what is happening to CPI due to tariffs you need to look at the goods that got tariffs like our friends at Goldman Sachs did.

Except we HAVE seen a massive increase on the prices of many things. So this is obviously not true. Im not saying your a liar, but maybe just grossly misinformed?

Prices don't just go up by the amount of the tariffs. They give business a license to steal.

So I don't get anything if I have $0 in taxable income and still recieve additional benefits from the Earned Income Tax Credits or the American Opportunity Tax Credit or the Lifetime Learning Tax Credit?

 

Yes as I posted he has had no success with his campaign of empty bluster and rhetoric. Norh Korea still has nukes. Iran may go back to developing them. No deal with China and the Mexico/ Canada deal basically changed nothing. Oh, and Russia thanks to Trump is once again becoming a player on the world stage.

 

Duh, that isn't a tax cut. That is just a handout.

 

It's not cutting any statutory rates, but it is a tax reduction in the form of an itemized tax liability that is reduced when people fill their taxes.

Either way, don't get upset with me because you forgot that tax credits existed for a second there.
