There is evidence that AA has harmed unqualified minorities who were admitted to prestigious and subsequently failed out with nothing to show for it but massive student debt. How is this not a no brainer? You have AA students competing against non-AA students who have SAT scores 150 higher and expect them to compete? There is a reason that blacks flourish in the military, it is a strict meritocracy where no exceptions are made for skin color.

Yes..... ugly is definitely connected with our tendency toward being:
    1. ungrateful / unthankful
    2. selfish / self centered
3 angry / unforgiving of others/ blaming our problems on others
    4. lacking in joy over being alive and able to experience life..... and learn from this amazing life.... that we did not have to invent ourselves but instead we inherited it all for free......
    5. obsessed with music and entertainment that takes us into lower and lower and lower levels of consciousness / vibration

"race‐neutral admissions are predicted to decrease minority representation at the most selective 4‐year institutions by 10%" Howell (2010, Assessing the Impact of Eliminating Affirmative Action in Higher Education, Journal of Labor Economics 28: 113-166).

Its a shame that folk want to maintain white privilege and fail to demand a result closer to equality of opportunity.

I would prefer to live in a meritocracy. Movement away from meritocracy weakens the nation. China doesn't give a damn about how "woke" Americans are and are perfectly happy to take over market share from the politically correct. There is a reason that China filed more patents last year than the US and Japan combined and why increasingly scientific/technological breakthroughs are coming from Asia rather than America..... America is starting to care less about innovation and care more about diversity. It is a loser's game. Moral puritans lose every time when competing against strict amoral capitalists..... every time. The amount of suffering that comes with losing on the global economic stage DWARFS any perceived benefit of handing out unearned benefits to those who have not earned them while denying those benefits to those that have.

For a perspective on how precipitous the fall of American innovation has been, check out the patents on the absolute bleeding edge of tech:
I wonder how "diverse" the Chinese and South Korean companies who filed for patents were..... I am guessing not very.

Let's stop you there. You don't. Discrimination exists. What are you going to do about it? Sit on your hands and pretend otherwise?

Of course discrimination exists. I see it all the time. As a software engineer, I have seen dozens of less competent engineers fired while I have flourished (3 patents, published in IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems and software on more than 10 billion dollars worth of equipment around the world without a single lost lawsuit due to software bug). I live with the knowledge that my employment is wholly dependent on the quality and quantity of my work product and I am comfortable working under that condition. Discrimination based on merit is not a flaw, it is how a successful system is set up to work. You want to replace discrimination on merit with discrimination on race and that is unprofitable at best and is immoral at worst.

We are speaking here specifically of AA which objectively lets less qualified individuals into colleges based solely on their skin color. With regards to elite colleges this has harmed Asian applicants more than any other group and is the reason for their current lawsuit which could possibly kill AA altogether.

Inane effort. You know what discrimination refers to; please stop pretending otherwise. Does it exist?

The only discrimination I have ever witnessed is discrimination based on merit. Blacks are apparently uninterested in embedded systems because I have never met a black embedded software engineer after nearly 30 years in the industry. I have met a grand total of two female embedded software engineers and they were both pretty good but neither one was willing to work 100 hour weeks like I was. I have a passion for embedded systems that borders on an addiction.

You are aware I hope that we are working in a capitalistic system. The only thing my company cares about is maximizing its own profits. You are living in some kind of delusion where you believe companies will purposely harm themselves because they don't like brown people. We are living in 2019, wake up and smell the coffee.

We know discrimination exists; it is easily empirically verified. We know your personal perception is therefore irrelevant.

You haven't got anything to say to me. By starting with a failure to accept economic reality, you have guaranteed your irrelevance. Have a jolly day playing pretend with someone else. Bye!

LoL.... provide a single peer reviewed scientific study to prove that naked assertion. If you can't show it, you do not know it.

I did not experience reverse racism. I do not know if it exists. I do not make judgement on issues I do not know about.

I have experienced enormous discrimination based on disability.

I wish I had merit of having neither Depression nor Autism. Antidepressants help to a degree.

Very often a mental condition is seen as a bad character trait.

People with autism do unusually well in software. Tons of software engineers are on the spectrum. You should look into it.

I will. It was a mistake for me not to go in that direction earlier.
