So there you have it ,it is now legal. All laws preventing a common bawdy house are now removed, making way for it to be totally legal.

    The problem though is thus.
Are our views about prostitution mature enough to embrace this as a common social occurrence ? , "Oh look a whorehouse lets check it out"

A panel of the most visible sex workers in Canada aired their Whoopeeee on telly today.

During the discussion they exclaimed that men should be allowed to satisfy their sexual needs. Which i find in and of itself demeaning to men.

Then went on to describe that every man in one way or another pays for sex.

Which i find demeaning to women.

Whether it's and i quote " taking her to the Rosewater Supper Club (one of toronto's swankiest restaurants) or buying her jewellery or how many trips to Mcdonalds before she puts out" Exact Words!!!

This is the whore's mentality that all sex is an expression of monetary exchange. They view it as such..

Now as you know i have always been on the side of making it legal , but now that it is in Canada…i had this Epiphany moment after seeing the sex workers real views on sex.

So what of the society we are entering into…where this accepted sociopath sex view is going to be handed to future generations who decide to go to this bawdy houses.

the poll will be multiple for i am wanting this to be a discussion of prostitution when it is legal

the laws are still in effect for a year whether they will be enforced is another question...

if you look at a country where prostitution is legal like the Netherlands it's has no effect on the countries moral fabric, just as when Canada's laws were struck down against homosexuality and then homosexual marriage despite the predictions of moral collapse by the social right wing nothing has happened...and that will be no different with legalized prostitution in ten years we'll all wonder what the fuss about and how silly and dangerous those laws were...

I don't care what you think people should and should not do sexually, why is it up to you to decide? As long as everyone consents who gives a (*)(*)(*)(*)?

I don’t see anything the least bit immoral about going to a prostitute or being a prostitute in a place where the practice is regulated and the rights of all involved are protected. It is just sex. It is a basic biological need, or at least desire. Sometimes a person wants to satisfy that need without all the emotional ties that go along with it. I would rather a man (or woman) go see a prostitute to scratch that itch rather than leading someone on solely for the sake of having sex. The prostitute/John relationship is one of the most honest ones out there. Each person knows exactly what the other person wants and what each other is willing to give.

There is a difference between sex and love. Granted, nothing beats sex when it is accompanied by love. But sex without love ain’t bad either. :)

I doubt Canadian society will improve or degrade as a result of this change in law. At best hopefully they will save resources by not wasting them on this particular vice crime.

the conservative government will claim new laws need to be in place to prevent underage girls, international slave trade or women being forced into prostitution, which will a smoke screen as all those things occurred when the previous laws in place...it's better to regulate the oldest business to better regulate health standards for those women who enter the business of their own free will....the illegal stuff will go on regardless of legalization but at it should be easier to identify once separated from the legitimate professionals...

Prostitution is one of those activities that has been in existence in basically every agrarian society with more than a hundred people: it is the dirty linen of civilization. It is indeed degrading to most women and many women have been forced by economics and/or force and/or misguided affection for a pimp into becoming prostitutes throughout history. What has also happened throughout history is that the basic situations of supply and demand that create prostitution have never gone away (just how illegal/winked it is).

So prostitution is not really a good thing but it IS going to happen (Prohibition shows what happens when you try to legislate away a popular vice). As a society we should accept it and work to minimize the downsides of prostitution (which mainly accrue to the prostitutes); so why not legalize the sale of sex by consenting adults if this overall improvement in quality of life is the result?

No victim, no crime. If I want sex more than money, and she wants money more than sex - then a voluntary interaction will occur. We will trade and both be better off. This is the benefit voluntary interaction provides: all relevant parties benefit by definition.

A bunch of fat old men have decided that it's acceptable to cage us like animals for such voluntary action because they've written down some scribbles on a piece of paper. To them I say: get out of our lives you pig scum, leave to us control over our own person and property and concern yourself with your own.

I myself am rather conservative in custom. I have never used a prostitute, neither do I ever intend to. The concept turns me off. I recognize, however, that what others choose to do with their bodies is none of my business whatsoever. To prevent them from fully experiencing their person and property, or by having men with guns do it for you, makes you the criminal, not the prostitute and her customer.

Those who want to cage prostitutes and their customers like animals are criminal scum themselves in every sense of the term, and I sincerely hope that someday karma comes their way.
