Marx’s disciple, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, concurred: “Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.”

The People's Republic of California has the highest personal income tax rate in the nation, the highest gasoline tax, the highest sales tax, and spends an insane amount of these outrageous taxes on education. Is it enough? Shirley you jest.

$71,876,000,000 for education in California JUST FROM THE STATE!

But that's not all. No, not by a long shot.

Money comes rolling in from the local government in virtually equal amounts, and then more from the federal government.

Yet MORE money comes from the Lottery and from school fundraisers galore, because after all, too much is never enough.

Oh and the correlation between educational spending and educational achievement? Well that's negative.
The more that has been spent, the less kids have learned.

The New York City Union of Federated Teachers created its own charter school, The UFT Charter School, promising stellar results by applying their expertise and professionalism. The New York City School Board ranks the UFT Charter School at the 5th percentile out of 1168 elementary schools in New York City. http://schools.nyc.gov

Contrast this with the four Icahn Charter Schools, created by business magnate, Carl C. Icahn, which are ranked by the NYC School Board at the 99th, 96th, 88th, and 100th percentiles, respectively. This ranking is based primarily on student achievement, a ranking system alien to teachers’ unions.

We should have a charter school option just like we should have a national healthcare option.
    More choice is always better.

And vouchers for school choice. The state had an interest in education youth, where it is done should be as irrelevant as which hospital a medicare patient goes to.

Wonder how much of that $71B went to educate illegals?

You're OK with tax dollars going to private religious schools in the form of vouchers? I'm not.

The money is spent on increasing the number of administrators and teachers ("smaller class size").

It never raises scores in testing.

Yes I am. Should Medicare not go to religious hospitals? Vets used GI Bill money to go to seminary if they wanted. In no way does that establish a state church.

I am fine with school choice until it promotes religious indoctrination. No public funds should go to religious causes.

    Otherwise I agree.

Religious hospitals do not try to convert their patients.
At least not that I have heard of, could be incorrect.

Outstanding point. Hundreds of millions certainly, possibly in the billions.
What you may not know is that in its Leftist Insanity, the California Legislature granted full tuition scholarships - that's right - to many illegal aliens who shouldn't even be here. Meanwhile parents pay for their own children's tuition PLUS that of the illegals, many of whom fly the American flag upside down and flip off hated "gringos".

12 to 14% of the total U.S. population live in California,so I would assume that have a similar percentage of the nations school age children.I believe the total spending in California on education is about $98 Billion last year.

Ah, so "don't send your kids to private religious schools." Simple as that paraphrased retort from pro-abortion liberals.
"You don't like abortions, don't get one!" Incidentally, since MEN can't get pregnant, and pro-abortion liberals tell them to shut up since they don't have a uterus, shouldn't atheists shut up about religion since you claim not to have one?
Inquiring minds want to know and this is the first time I have ever seen that question asked. It was another of my frequent epiphanies.

The Chaplains probably do. If ten different churches/religions ran hospitals or schools that did try to convert, which of them is being established as a state church?

Brilliant. On point. I would add that I was born in a Catholic hospital. My wife was born in a Catholic hospital in a different state from me. Our daughters were born in that same Catholic hospital that my wife was. There are Presbyterian and Baptist and Jewish and Methodist hospitals, saving lives, but no atheist hospital ! ! ! Why is that when atheists are so smugly sanctimonious and holier than anyone else, just for holiness' sake, not to get anywhere, mind you.

Then too the Ivy League Colleges all have Christian charters. Take away all their federal funding? You mean there is not ONE college with an atheist charter? :::: gasp::::: Wherefore "intellectualism" that they claim?

Atheists just are, they don’t typically go around demanding others follow their view — just that they shouldn’t be forced a religious view. I have no issues with religious charters or even religious schools that do not mandate religious classes or ideology.

I had to look your footnote up, never having seen it before. How many people have the curiosity to do so? I would guess that number is five percent or fewer. What a wonderful apothegm. (Look it up.) Thank you in Aeternum.

Right, all these lawsuits and complaints by atheists and the ACLU, demanding this and demanding that. Don't follow our atheist view, just shut the hell up with yours. "Undemanding."

I live in CA and have 5 kids that went through our K-12 school system. Teachers have zero consequence for poor work ethic and zero reward for producing good results. 2 of my kids were threatened with being held back a grade. I put them in a charter school and both graduated early.

Factoring in the teacher pension debt, they need to find more ways to get money from tax payers.

That’s what I said, the ability to be free from the religious imposition of others.
