    Some have argued that the main reason why we organize ourselves into states is to solve the problem of providing public goods. Comment on this, try to consider these two questions in your answer/thinking: First, is this a good explanation for the existence of states? And second, if we were not organized in states, how much more serious would public goods problem be, and how might we try to address them without states?
