They were trying to destroy age and century long values, revisiting the relationship between the people, they were encouraging informing on one's own beloved, and families. It was hailed as the march of progress. And it was very popular across the world and it was supported by many, as we see, it is happening right now.

And the fight against racism, which is a lofty goal, turns into a new culture, cancel culture, and into reverse discrimination, racism on the obverse. And it brings people apart, whereas the true fighters for civic rights, they were trying to eliminate those differences. I asked my colleagues to find this quote from Martin Luther King, and he said, ‘I have a dream, that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.' I would have given you a "like" on this until your Putin for President comment. But I agree with most of the rest. You point out historical analogies which I feel are quite valid.

 

I am astounded at how many people on this forum do not comprehend hyperbole...

I do NOT wish Putin would run for President of the United States - I was being flippant to illustrate the absurdity to which, in my opinion, America has sunk to.

Putin knows what you think, which is why he tells you what you want to hear, and your reaction proves his propaganda works on people like you. He is ex KGB and knows how to play people like you to weaken America, and its a great shame that you side with him and not your country.

He isn't wrong.

For all the problems he represents, he actually often says things that are not wrong.

If shows how far gone the media in the west has become.

My favourite Putin interviews are ones by American "journalists" who want to look tough and ask Putin the hard questions. Invariably he fires back with something completely sensible the journalist was not ready for. It distracts from his pretty big negatives and highlights hypocrisy in the journalist, and in the west.

For example the journalist accuses Putin of interfering in the US election, and he responds with something like "I think it would be wonderful if both our countries didn't interfere in the elections and affairs of other countries. Shall we both do that?". And then camera pans to journalist thinking "oh dear, we can't have that".

 

Putin is extremely smart, and very wise. I made a flippant remark earlier about wishing he would run for President of The United States - I'll clarify, I wish we had a Genuine American as smart and wise as Putin that would run for President of The United States.

 

The thing is, you do have many extremely smart and very wise Americans, but the electoral system is formed in such a way that you never get these people in public office. You instead wind up choosing between people like Trump, Hillary, Biden, Dubya, etc. It is pretty sad.

 

Trump was/is crude, but he is the best President America has had since Harry Truman.

Maybe not the best possible, but the best, nevertheless.

 

If he was, it is because he stayed out of the way. He was so absorbed in his own ego that he was both easily led and less prone to push many big moves. This is a guy who loved being campaigner in chief, doing rallys, and delegating all real thinking. That delegating was good and may indeed make him one of the best presidents.

 

With respect - the only difference between Trump's ego and the egos of everyone else in politics - is that Trump did not pretend to be something he is not.
