Reading through many many posts here, I believe it would be wise for everyone to take the day off, do some research to find out what exactly racism is and what a racist is. It seems to be one helluva misused word. Maybe, on the header of this site, below 'Political Forum.com' should be the definition. Please don't call me a 'racist' for posting this

Your point is a good one. We also should consider the source when the word is used.

"Racism" and "racist" have been so misused and overused as to become meaningless.

Racism is applying a certain characteristic to a group of people, then assuming everyone in that group exhibits that characteristic. Can be positive or negative. Therefore when someone makes a statement something like, "Blacks don t have a spine." that is a clearly racist comment.

Racism is simply the subscribing to the concept of a genetic race. A racist is just anyone who subscribes to the concept. Which means just about everybody here, you, me, errrahbody.. is racist to some extent.

How one's behavior manifests itself when they subscribe to the concept of race, be it malevolent or benevolent, is a much more complected subject to discuss.

Racism, sexism, homophobia and others pejorative terms are what the liberals say they are. That's all. And, if you're not a socialist then you are be definition racist, sexist, and homphobic.

Should use of "racist" or "racism" not be dismissed as automatically as references to Hitler and Nazis?

Should there not be a Godwin's Law about phoney racism?

Actually, since the chronic and across the board radical overplaying of the Race Card by fanatical leftists since 2008 and especially after the utterly over the top stuff of Martin versus ZImmerman and now the deliberate and systematic goading by elitist leftwing media wonks to inflame and keep inflamed the township of Ferguson for the last eleven or twelve days . . . the leftwingers themselves have collectively began shoving the kneejerk charges of "Racist!" and "Racism!" into Godwin's Law territory where the sane and thinking population inside this nation is concerned. Each time the Left and their Media Outlets outrageously gin up and overplay these false racial memes more and more citizens are turning away from the Left's hysterical or cynical use of that propaganda ploy.

As an outsider looking in, I'm not entirely sure what they're going on about when it comes to Ferguson. It's not like the cop was like "Oh. You're black. I guess I'll kill you". At worst, the cop subconsciously profiled the guy. That sucks and it's a regrettable mistake, but it's one we all make. As Jesus said "he who hasn't avoided making eye contact with someone of a different race, you may rip the first cone" :weed: Or throw the first stone, whatever.

Point is - while the cop may be at fault (awaiting the investigation), that's not a reflection on society. (*)(*)(*)(*) happens.

The forum should be impartial on pretty much all matters.

When racism is used incorrectly the reason is that the author usually doesn’t know the meaning of 'racism' or its used out of context. However I haven’t seen much of a problem here at PF with that word, well except for using it incorrectly with Jews etc. Other than that I agree with most of the replies. I think it’s a good idea to do the same with other words words. We should not only consider the source but how to use words correctly. That’s because many words are over used as well as mis or ill-defined. Some words are misapplied which makes conveying an idea almost impossible. I am as bad or worse than anyone else too. So its time to get busy eh ?

It doesn’t much matter what research folks do on these terms. Our society has entered into a new (maybe not so new) realm of maliciousness, not for the purpose of exposing any sort of real bigotry, but for political and social advantage. It’s used when substance of issues have failed. It’s used to go right for the jugular. It’s specifically designed to put wedges between sects of people, to create division, to incite anger, to create chaos; and this direct toward what is now being defined as the ‘low information voter’.

Liberals figured out that folks don’t want detail or have to study the facts; they want to be spoon-fed their information, and this information has to come in the simplest of terms that require the least amount of thought. And this information doesn’t only have to be in very simple terms, it has to come in tiny snippets; short sentences.

If everyone is a impartial ‘yes man’ where does the ‘debate’ come in?

In the world according to REVA (owed to Williams PIP bro) homogeny is death, variety is life, examples; an one world government controlled by a despotic dictator with one idea of what is best for everyone is death. Many nations with no central power is life.

No problem man, the centralization of power is the single greatest threat facing humanity; that is, the sum of all individuals.

At least private criminals work alone or in small groups.

Well, what you are seeing after about fifty years of leftwingers SHRIEKING via slanted articles and bigoted community talks and televised round table discussion the equivalent of "All White cops are potential racist murderers of innocent Blacks AND all white cops are Republicans and Conservatives AND everybody Right of Center is actually a closet racist," is the current situation inside Ferguson. After fifty years worth of essentially cynical and politically based ideologically generated propaganda, the bigoted and radical Left has done this to the nation and only they can fix what they broke; but the problem is that they LIKE what they are seeing because it makes perpetually agitated and paranoid Blacks (Deliberately KEPT paranoid by leftwingers) always voting Democrat no matter what.

I'd love to see a moratorium on that kind of thing myself.

But it ain't gonna happen because the race baiters are doing what they can to inflame things.

I have nothing but vulgar insults to say to them.

Isn't the most common accusation of racism on these forums a matter of conservatives calling liberals racist?

the liberal definition of racism is being critical of anyone that isn't white even though what you are criticizing has nothing to do with their race
It is the lefts way of silencing and intimidating anyone out of fear of being labeled a racist if you are critical of anything that involves another race

"Point is - while the cop may be at fault (awaiting the investigation), that's not a reflection on society. (*)(*)(*)(*) happens."

This is where we part ways in our conclusion, lets take an easier example that was on video not this Ferguson thing, lets look at Rodney King. Do you think the cops were racist? What about the Jury? Its blatantly obvious both were racist, the right wing swears that race was not a factor in that beating/trial. This is the problem, whenever a black man is CLEARLY assaulted beyond belief by a mass of white cops the right wing just says "(*)(*)(*)(*) happens".......Well, that is the attitude that makes people riot. When people are being oppressed and all the oppressors have to say about it is "(*)(*)(*)(*) happens" well guess what? More (*)(*)(*)(*) is going to happen, and your stores are going to get burnt down and when they do guess what im going to say? (*)(*)(*)(*) happens, stop crying.

No, actually it is just the opposite. Isn't there an entire thread devoted to conservative racism?

It goes right along with "hate", "homophobe" and other popular buzzwords that get tossed at you if you veer off the Liberal course. Over used and usually doesn't fit...but tossed around willy nilly.

When someone says they dont want to hire gay people, which many people DO say, that is homophobic plain and simple, if they use their religion as an excuse it makes no difference, their religion is homophobic, they follow the religion, they are homophobic. A Christian saying he is not a racist homophobic misogynistic warmongerer would be like the KKK saying they are not racist, which they really do say by the way.
