How can you talk about reality in the same breath as talking snakes, worldwide floods and humans living inside a fish?

    Yes.
Truth hurts those who have already accepted the lies that support unreal conditions, because they must either change their behavior and be saved with Truth properly applied, or ignore Truth and find extinction follows the cruel end of their ways, sooner or later.

Yes, as you use the term "reality" to mean Facts about this matter or another, you can get confused when the meaning of "Reality" in larger picture is meant.
The fact that people are making bad decisions is a reality.
The Truth about bad decisions is the the ends are, in Reality, bad also.

You are cooreect in saying that Truth is the mediator that tells us what the Realities are, and Truth can guide us to make good decisions.

Interesting that both Moses and Elijah also spent 40 days and nights in the wilderness, too.

Deuteronomy 9:9 When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the Lord made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:

1 Kings 19:8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

Matthew 4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

Jesus only "helped" a handful of people. He ignored everyone else. He was the proto-type of the typical faith healer con man.

Jesus taught in parables so that they outsiders wouldn't have a clue as to what he was really saying. Even his disciples got tired of it.

Jesus never gave anyone anything. He was always the taker, never the giver. When he had the chance to be giving he told his disciples to take a hike because he needed it more than the riff-raff poor, who will always exist.

BTW, if Jesus is God who was that nutty killer deity in the Old Testament?

According to Margot, numbers in the scriptures are meaningless and Biblical Numerology is a joke...

    From Wiki:

They left off '40' which meant a time of trial or testing.... just as raining 40 days & 40 nights..

The use of symbolism has long been one of the literary arts for authors who use these things, and analogies, and metaphors to teach and reach us who read their words.
The snake has long been the symbol for healers and wise men, too:

    Numbers 21:9
So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived.

the bible is not reality, it's fantasy, a myth

were all connected, God is everything, every thing is God, were all part of everything.... that is the truth

the bible was created based on the religions that came before it.... religious myths have evolved over time...

Muslims are always trying to discredit the Bible because in 600AD they wrote a book they taught ignorant people to believe which contradicted Christ and all that he had told us.
But they wisely made certain that they proclaimed respect and love for what they must believe was a false prophet in a Jesus who they do not ever obey.

They do not obey the love of enemies.
They do not turn the other cheek.
They hardly mention the Elijah at all, and ignore that he came back from the dead in 32 AD.
They ignore the Eucharist, and never "drink the blood of Christ" as he direct us to so do.
They deny that men can become the sons of God.
They deny the resurrection of Jesus.
They deny Christ as Truth personified.

And here, they deny the very scripture which the Jews preserved through the ages for us, and seek errors on other ways to invalidate the word of God.

Of course the Bible is not Reality.
    The bible is a book.

It merely claims that Reality is God, and that Truth is the image and son "Reality" manufactured for our salvation from opposing Reality.

    Yes.
The sign is still used by medicine and hospital systems everywhere which still heal the sick.

Absurd declarations without a showing of PROOF of claim. Prove your claims.

In the Bible the snake in Eden was NOT a healer... Its NEGATIVE on the Osoburo which was a symbol of fertility and rebirth all over the region.. It was about dueling religions.

    Hmmm,...
    Maybe.
These ancient guess at the numerology just that,... guesses trying to make some sense out of the numbers as best they could and still do.
But we must remember the the Kabbalahists had systems of numbers too, and unless we discover their works and compare what they might say on this,... maybe is the best response.

It's cumulative, over approximately 50 years. What exposure I've had to protestant Christians has been unusually unpleasant. Outrageous arrogance in the form of door knockers and the like, demands and expectations for unquestioning veneration of the faith, the self appointed position on the moral high ground, the complete failure to respect boundaries by telling my kids their vulgar horror stories, and unthinking demonisation of non-believers.

I've not experienced anything like those delights from Catholics, nor from people of other faiths. Make of that what you will.

    Proof???
    Nothing can just be proven.
One must have a system, like Geomety, for instance, to show a prrof.
But you deny any system, right?

Using the Scientific Method which can show everyone who looks that a fact is the same for everyone who does the same experiment is not valid for you.
You will deny that a coin dropped from the same distance hits the floor in the same amount of time, every time, even if you check it out.
And so Truth itself will not prove Reality is lord and god.

And those of the rebellious Exodus generation in the wilderness died out---aka, also 'purging,' in the case of Moses, Elijah, Jesus over their flesh.

And 40 oz is also a drink size...... [IMG]

The verse which promises a great prophet will appear said he will do the same things as Moses did, as proof of his validity:

    Deuteronomy 18:
8 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, (a miracle worker), and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

    NOTE ALSO:
John 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

Moses = sent only to the Jews.
Jesus = sent only to the Jews.

I'm not saying that Christianity is perfect although God's message in the Bible is. Everything man made or interpreted will contain one error(s) or another: it is just that given the enlightenment provided by God through Jesus Christ and in current context: the Holy Bible, I think that mankind has been able to remain differentiated from the animal world because of this enlightenment. Of course, that isn't to say that God isn't supplying this enlightenment through the teachings of Allah (Koran), Buddha etc: All I'm saying is that God isn't restrained in His means of communication: it is just whether people choose to listen to His voice in one form or another: U can bring a horse to the water but U cannot force the horse to drink...

On the balance of probabilities (if not) beyond reasonable doubt, I'm saying that this enlightenment from God has allowed human society to evolve well.

Not a specialist/ expert in things "Odin/ Zeus" but I do not ever recall hearing that they were particularly charitable or concerned with the poor in society.
I actually do not think religion is per se = merit: just as 'nuclear energy'/ 'medicinal drug'/ 'gun' is morality neutral: it is how it is applied that determines merit.
Some Christian theologians may label my 'karma' inspired theology heretic but I do think that as an accounting system for one's contribution to society/ good of creation: it is a reasonable choice and more accurate than the vague 'just believe' currently in fashion Christian theology: basically just grand motherhood statement with scant in evidence/substantiation: actions speak louder than words always.

I have previously floated the idea of 'essential equipment': your example of giving "children sharp knives to play with" is I find a tad bit extreme: the case is more like the emergency train-stop button in all modern subway stations: positioned at a height that no preschooler can reach: e.g. Adam and Eve were ostensibly of age mature enough to follow simple instructions and God was their direct mentor with whom they interacted ostensibly very closely with. Still, they refused to obey simple instructions, preferring to fall for selfish personal interest/ fetish: thus tainting their morally perfect state: consequenting in their fall from grace, separation from God and ejection from Eden (yes this story may be just ancient fairy tale genre but the message is no less potent). Fortunately, God did not neglect His creation and his subsequent acts of love and compassion, whilst always in indirect mode (and not always perfect due to its human representative delivery mode basically), was effective at guiding human society towards his ideal: Abraham, Moses, David, etc. Finally, God himself appeared in the form of Jesus Christ to die for sins (yeah, your eyelids are drooping by now: I can see) and then the New testament Bible was born...

So it is a complex and continuing relationship. Ostensibly, whilst the possibility of misuse of the ' emergency train-stop button' exist and it may be misused many a time, still, its presence is so essential, that no modern subway will pass safety inspections without its incorporation. As for the details wrt subway safety, the professionals will answer: and as for your confidence in modern subway(train service) technology that is both clean and safe to use, I am certain that Gods enlightenment guided the thoughts of professional subway designers in one way or another...
