Reduce Executive Branch to 6 Departments

    The Executive Branch

    Organize all Executive Responsibilities under the State, Defense, Welfare, Interior, Justice and Treasury Departments.

    Abolish the Department of Health and Human Services; Create Department of Welfare.

    Abolish the Department of Homeland Security; move Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection under the Defense Department.

    Abolish the Department of Education.

    Abolish the Department of Agriculture; move school food programs to Welfare Department.

    Abolish the Drug Enforcement Agency

    Abolish the Transportation Security Agency

    Abolish the Food and Drug Administration; move responsibilities to Welfare and Defense Department respectively.

    Abolish the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

    Abolish Department of Transportation; move any Interstate or Railway responsibilities to the Department of the Interior.

    Abolish the Department of Commerce.

    Abolish the Department of Energy; move nuclear safety responsibilities to the Department of Defense.

    Abolish the Department of Labor; move workers rights responsibilities to the Justice Department.

    Abolish the Department of Veterans Affairs; cover health-care and assistance programs through Department of Welfare.

    If there is no reduction in programs, how is this any real improvement?

    It just makes six very large and byzantine departments.

    I would get rid of HEW as well and I would support removing everything these departments did with a few exceptions. Let the states decide if they want to have these activities and pay for them. I'm for returning almost everything the federal government does to the states. We do need defense, state and justice to be sure. Treasury, maybe.
