Does anyone else here feel a large weight lifted at the close of the Christmas Holiday?
I personally have grown to dread the whole part of my year, between the stresses of shopping, the pressures of family Christians, and the simple fact I am literally forced to celebrate something I do not believe in this is a terrible joke to me.

Then I get the bills for it.

You're not forced to celebrate anything. You simply say "no thanks" and go about your miserable way. You also don't need to purchase gifts for anyone - you can celebrate Christmas for what it's actually intended.

I do not know which alternate reality you dwell in, but in the one I inhabit....there is no way to avoid it. I will not be an ass about it. Will not insult family, will not disappoint children, will not avoid the shopping required to eat, will not be able to avoid endless commercials and specials on TV, cannot change the wishes of others to party.

Your "Miserable" comment is taken also, as the joyous Christian attitude of the Holidays.

I'm sorry... you're the one complaining about Christmas, because you can't get away from it. You're miserable while surrounded by the joy of others. Good on you.

Actually, I am a very happy person who does not care for this Holiday much, and feels relief that it is over.....I had assumed this was quite clear in the OP but it was posted as q question and might have seemed confusing to certain individuals who have a predisposition to being offended that others do not feel the same way they do.

Hmmm.....perhaps that plays into my being pleased it is over.

Perhaps you should re-read your OP.

Okay...I just did as you recommended, and it pretty much states what you quoted but in a different way.

This hasn't been a great year in our family, so Christmas was more perfunctory. In the past, I was have always been glad when it was over, but not because of the holiday. I am glad I have 364 days until I have to see some of my relatives again. Beyond that, it is what you make of it. Even if you do not believe in Christmas, you can still get into the spirit of doing good for others if you realy want to and make it your own tradition.

I can understand to a degree, but perhaps you are confusing something. Christmas is not about you, it's about spreading joy and Peace to others. . If you do not enjoy the smile of a child, the unselfish giving to others, the Hellos and good wish's then yes it's a drag. Most people are happy the running around is over, but can still appreciate the ''Good will to all''

Next time go to a Christmas tree lighting, and watch the smiles of the children, or participate at a soup Kitchen then see what you feel. Joy can mean different things to different people.
However if you are sure none of this will help, then take pleasure in your disdain. After all if it were not for Scrooges Christmas would not be the same, we need your participation and thank you for your continued support....[IMG]

Perhaps your Christmas music collection could use a ''Boost''

    Spreading Joy...

I love christmas but sometimes its just added stress. I always make the mistake of getting my shopping done late, and everyone with kids are just going out of their minds lol. But in the end its all worth it because it is a great time once you get passed all the stress related activites of shopping, planning get togethers and such.

I'm very glad the secular shopping extravaganza loosely known as "Happy Holidays" is gone. It started in all the stores in early October, and steamrolled right through Thanksgiving -- oops! I meant, "Black Friday" (which lasted two weeks). I got real sick of it, and it didn't take long. Most people I know either pretty much felt the same or just ignored "Christmas" altogether.

The Christian Feast of Christmas began, as always, on Christmas Day, and concluded on Epiphany, January 6th. It was a joyous celebration and remembrance of the coming of the Christ of God, Emmanuel, into this physical world to free the spirit of mankind from the futility of dharma, sangsara, karma, and reincarnation. "Happy Holidays" for many Americans is a hangover, clothes that don't fit, and even greater credit card debt... by contrast, the Christian Feast of Christmas is joyous, hopeful, and liberating....

Hey, wouldn't it be just wonderful if they could find a way to start some gigantic shopping binge that they could attach to Easter...? . :roflol:
