Believe it or not, this president was dully elected by the people to serve a 4 year term that doesn't end until January 20th as do the Senators. Plenty of time to do their job as outlined in the Constitution.

I have several that are - if not better - at least equally good.

In 2016, Joe Biden wrote, "I know there is an argument that no nominee should be voted on in the last year of a presidency. But there is nothing in the Constitution — or our history — to support this view."

Now he says, "If Trump wants to put forward a name now, the Senate should not act until after the American people select their next president, their next Congress, their next Senate."

In 2016, Schumer tweeted, "Attn GOP: Senate has confirmed 17 #SCOTUS justices in presidential election years. #DoYourJob"

Now he says, "By all rights, by every modicum of decency and honor, Leader McConnell and the Republican Senate majority have no right to fill it. No right."

    That's hypocrisy, pure and simple.

Another worthless answer. I don't know about all democrats but I for one just want republicans to be consistent. If they couldn't hold a hearing for Garland in 2016, why can they do it now?

As I've said, dems would have no basis to complain now if Mitch had at least given Garland a hearing in 2016.

Indeed. The hypocrisy is to "forget" that it is the President's duty to nominate SCOTUS, and to pretend not to know that the Constitution does not prescribe when and how soon the President should do so.

Infallible RBG said the same thing. You may have seen the video, unless you watch ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, MSNBC...

You seem to concede that republicans are being hypocrites. How are the dems hypocrites for pointing out that republicans are taking a wholly different position from the one they took in 2016? Is your only response that "HUR DUR DEMS DO IT TO HUR DUR"?

Here's your answer and it's a very simple one.

McConnell said that in 2016 when things were still somewhat civilized. Things drastically changed over the last 4 years. The behavior of the democrats has been as despicable as one could ever imagine. When you bring a blatantly false accusation against the president and push a multi year investigation that turns up virtually nothing, you've changed things. When you bring up completely bogus impeachment charges against the president, you've changed things. When you demand Trump accept the results of the election, then proceed to throw a 4 year temper tantrum because you can't accept the results of the election, you've changed things.

And then there's this. If the shoe were on the other foot, what would the democrats do? What if the democrat senate leader had said the same thing 4 years ago that McConnel did and was now in the same position McConnel is in today? What do you think the democrats would do? The answer is simple, they'd push through a nominee without thinking twice about it.

You're crying because it's not your side making the selection, that's all this is. You aren't in any way against what McConnel is doing, no democrat is. They're just mad it's not them making the selection.

So pardon me if I don't give a **** about the lefts total and complete sham of an argument that 'it's the right thing to do to wait'.

Questions for you: (I have asked several people these questions, but so, far no one has responded) What was your position when Obama attempted to replace Scalia? Did you believe he had the right? Were your for, or against, the Senate from blocking the nomination?

The hypocrisy on the dem side is not in pointing out that the GOP has changed positions. It's that the dems themselves have done a 180 from their 2016 positions, just as much as the Republicans.

    Does that answer your question?
