Looks like the reason he brought it up is because the shooter allegedly mentioned it in this manifesto hes presumed to have authored.

Nah.....he is clearly blaming video games for the massacres (plural.) Do you agree that to do so, is absolute tosh?

The video game argument by Dan Patrick (not the sports journalist, but the Lt Gov of Tx) is not really smart about this claim.

    Let's be honest here.

We know who the real players are in this mess.

Theres way too many people playing violent video games and not being violent IRL for video games to be a noteworthy factor.

Video games don't make young people commit mass murder. But a large percentage of young mass murderers have immersed themselves in violent video games before finally committing their mass murders. For them, those games are "murder simulators", and what they do during these mass murders is eerily similar to the way you play these video games.

Seth...you seem to be having two bob each way there. You correctly state that video games are not a catalyst, a cause or the inspiration. Most teenagers across the Planet have immersed themselves in video games. They probably have milk in their coffee as well.

    This.

Basic statistics folks. If video games were a factor there would be a lot more violence than there is. Given how huge the video game industry is (friggen massive if you've never looked at the numbers) and how few mass shootings there are it's actually overwhelming proof that video games are not the cause and don't cause people to be violent in real life.

I bet the vast majority of mass shooters have seen star wars. That doesn't mean star wars was the cause. Again....basic statistics.

The Dems can do what they like. I am free to give you my take on it which is not political, just practical.

Your take is uninformed. But there is a lot of that going around these days. You have plenty of company.

Google will lead you to many links which inform us of the complete opposite. Here is but one.

    This Grossman?

"Inciting significant controversy and anger, Grossman has been documented on video as claiming that when police kill on the job, they often report to him that they go home and enjoy their best sex ever."

BTW it is only 30 pages

And here are a few more

I have read quite a few of them and am happy to debate the points with you

The internet is full of 300 word articles which will confirm anything you desire. Try googling 2 + 2 = 5.

Read a book with actual references and footnotes.

What is the source and the point of your last sentence ??

Why? Are you getting a kickback from the sales? Do you want to send me a free copy? How about you just tell me which page the relevant information is on and I will see if it comes up on a free online sample?
