    Sure.

Asking how many normally die to the flu each year in Italy is a completely separate issue when determining their ability to address the number of people who will need beds for this one.

    Please carry on.

It is because we arent talking about the flu.

The number of people who will need beds is 20%. The flu puts roughly 1% of people in the hospital.

So yes, it is a separate issue.

Want me to explain again, but slower?

Sure, speak slower if it helps you understand better.

Are we over 4 million Coronavirus cases in Italy yet?

    https://www.thelocal.it/20180119/italy-worst-flu-season-in-14-years

Italy is in the grip of its worst flu season in 14 years

Nearly 4 million people in Italy sought treatment for the flu in recent weeks, the highest number of cases since 2004.

Children are the worst affected: under fives made up 30.8 patients out of every 1,000 treated, the highest rate of any age group, while 15.9 patients out of every 1,000 were between five and 14.

You wanted to know if the number of cases in South Korea was increasing or decreasing. I presented you a chart that showed the number of new cases has decreased significantly.

I hope for your sake that you won't be the one waiting in line for the ventilator while going into lung failure.

And, to make things even worse yet -- a very large percentage of all the prescription medicine, vitamins, etc., sold in the United States comes from China and India.

Still unanswered are the questions about how long the Corona virus can survive in a variety of different environments, and for how long.

Situation: So, your doctor prescribed some medicine for you to take. Where was the medicine manufactured? Where was it packaged? Under what conditions? When was it shipped? Where was it shipped from? Where was it stored for distribution to your local pharmacy?

And that's just ONE thing. Does anybody know how much of ALL the stuff we buy in the U. S. comes from China and/or India? Hey, it was very cost-effective and relatively safe for American companies to "off-shore" everything they could after the fall of the Soviet Union... to make the company's stockholders happy. NOTHING else mattered....

[IMG]. "Medicine is CHEAP...?! For WHO? Hey, I'm in the United States!" :roflol:

You know how you know this isn't a real epidemic, much less a pandemic. If you didn't have the internet or TV and just went about your regular life, you wouldn't even know it was going on.

I literally don't know anybody who Even knows anybody who has had corona virus.

That method for determining what qualifies as a epidemic is incredibly narrow minded. But if you don't know anyone with the virus, you will. Very soon.

Congressional doctor expects 70M to 150M people in U.S. will contract coronavirus

You always say this with nothing to back up your statement. 0.7 people are struck by lightning per day. Currently, 0.5 die from coronavirus per day. All you need are numbers and a calculator.

I can absolutely back it up, but first let's be clear, you compared the likelihood of dying by COVID-19 to the likelihood of being struck by lightning. I assumed you meant death by lightning strike, but if you just meant being struck (and not dying), you are still very likely to be wrong.

You are comparing a yearly average for lightning strikes so here is the data.

"According to the NOAA, over the last 20 years, the United States averaged 51 annual lightning strike fatalities, placing it in the second position, just behind floods for deadly weather.[14][15] In the US, between 9% and 10% of those struck die,[16] with an annual average of 25 deaths in the 2010s decade (16 in 2017).[17][18]"

That means there are roughly 250 lightning strikes each year. That is 0.68 lightning strikes per day.

COVID-19 has been killing Americans in the US for 12 days now (I also realized my mistake here, you were right). In that time frame, 37 people are now dead. That is 3.08 deaths per day. Even if you assumed linear growth, that means 1,125 people will die in a year. And we are seeing multiplicative growth right now.

Now, it is possible that the death rate will stop and that is the only reason that I say that you are very likely to be wrong after a year's timeframe, but you are objectively wrong based on the current data.

My friends in Germany are absolutely horrified and astonished when I tell them about the price of pharmaceutical medicines in the United States. And when they tell me what the SAME medicines cost them in Germany it just makes me madder than hell! There's no doubt in my mind now that 'Big Pharma' screws the American people like we're all a bunch of kidnapped, captive 'cocaine-whores' that they can enjoy themselves with at their leisure....

But the fact remains, whether you're in Boston or in Berlin, nearly all the medicine is manufactured in China or India! We should NEVER have allowed ourselves to be put in that kind of position -- but big-wig Republicans AND equally big-wig Democrats were all too happy to take Big Pharma's huge campaign 'contributions', look totally the other way, and 'let the good times roll'....

And now? When you open a package of just about anything made in China (which includes nearly everything), you don't know WHAT you're getting....

[IMG]."Hi! Thought I'd just 'tag-along'... I can survive out here for WEEKS!"

Of course they are. Their president has taught them that anything critical of him or them in the news isn't real. It's only natural that they view everything that isn't a gleaming testimonial about Trump's greatness as fake.

Honestly, I'd be more surprised to learn that water is wet.

It is exaggerated. There are tons of flus and people die from them all the time. Every election cycle somebody hypes some disease.

The good news is that I went to eat at a buffet last night and all the scared dopes staying at home gave me the whole place to myself.

There are multiple problems with the "this is just like the flu" talking point.

The flu has a vaccine, antivirals, and people have built up antibodies to the flu which will naturally make it less potent and less likely to take hold.

COVID has no vaccine, no antivirals, and people have no antibodies.

COVID-19 is also more deadly, especially for the elderly, and more easily spread. Act accordingly.
