Outrageous! As if gas prices aren't high enough. This is just going to be another crippling piece of legislation for the poor and middle class. Hopefully Obama will be able to counter it.

When will you Democrats ever learn... you are told that Democrats wants to raise taxes on the rich but somehow they always get you.

Democrats will never be satisfied until you are penniless.

WASHINGTON – Democrats, contractors and unions are pressing Congress to raise the gas tax to fund the Highway Trust Fund despite opposition from key Republicans that makes any increase unlikely.

On Wednesday, Sen. Barbara Boxer, the top Democrat on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, urged members of the Transportation Construction Coalition — a group of trade associations and construction unions — to lobby members of Congress for a long-term funding plan for the Highway Trust Fund, which is set to expire May 31.

like everyone else we're wondering where your story of 30% comes from... and why are you so upset, you know where that gas tax money goes to, union contractors to repair bridges and roadways... so shouldn't you be cheering republicans for raising taxes that will funnel down to the middle class union workers of america? or are you against them simply because republicans supported something, which we're still waiting to see where this 30% is...

did you mean 30% of current sale price, or 30% increase of the current percent, or 30% of some other number... your immense lack of details makes this questionable... as I understand it, current federal gasoline taxes are 18.4 cents per gallon... so lets assume its a 30% increase of that number, that would amount to roughly 5 cents... well that doesn't sound terrible at all, that sounds quite modest and reasonable considering it hasn't budged in quite a while right... but like I said, your immense lack of information or detail on where you're coming up with this "30% tax hike" is clearly intentional because you don't want people to think, you just want them to react...

anyhow, feel free to post a link and document your source and information, so we can apply some scrutiny to see if we should object or not... I mean you want to support union middle class jobs right, so you should be tickled pink over a gasoline tax increase, it will trickle down to the union contractors repairing the roads, you want that right?

P.S. the only federal bills I could find that addressed gasoline taxes, would add under 10 cents per gallon... are you suggesting this is unreasonable? Bernie mentioned spending a TRILLION in additional infrastructure improvements, you realize how much that tax would have gone up if he got that much of an increase? more than 10 cents...

thought I would include a link to federal and state gasoline taxes, in case you're struggling to differentiate between the two... not all states are the same...
