In celebration of having successfully completed my first Head Gasket swap (a $200 '00 Oldsmobile Alero- V6 3400 w/ 260K miles- runs great now!), I decided I needed a better system for storing my tools (the old system was just piling them on the floor...). This is what I came up with. Its not done, but its mostly done. The open side will have shelf storage for things like angle grinder, battery charger, work lights, etc.
Its 'finished'. I'm sure it'll never actually be finished, but Its everything I had intended, and any future alterations/additions will be minor.
I live in a small house that started life as a two car garage. I have a cement slab and porch the goes out maybe 8 ft all along the front wall, so no garage for me. I'm soon getting a full size oxy acetalyne rig, lol. My next project might be a porch like it, off the back, just roofing tin and lumber. At least I worry little about my tools walking off as we live behind a locked, 6ft fence around the entire place but even still, I keep my most expensive tools inside, like my welder or any tools on loan. My kingdom for a decent size shed to make a shop out of.
I lived in a 1B with a carport big enough to either store tools in or work in, but not both. I know your pain. Now my house is an 800sf 2B with a 1000sf shop. If only it were in the woods instead of a neighborhood. Then I'd want for nothing
@modernpaladin You do any welding? This machine is awesome for the $ 200.00 at Harbor Freight. DC inverter, flux core wire feed, standard electric outlet. Plenty of heat and adjustibility, will easily handle 5 mm plate when beveled.
I have something similar, but with a feed system that requires constant adjustment. But it does the job. My next big toy will be a metal lathe big enough for rifle barrels. But after that, I'll be looking for a bigger 220v wire feed.
They can be fickle, you can be the best welder in the world but if the feed is screwing up....This one works perfectly. Know what you mean about wishing you were in the woods, then I could run my grinder at night. A lathe would be awesome! Plasma cutter would be nice too!
My Dad brought two of these welding tables, he is bringing me one when he gets down this way . I may purchase this tube bender, then I can fabricate brush guards or back window protectors for all these good old boys around here.
My dad is 72 YO. He still shoes and trims horses and practices equine dentistry. You want to talk about highly specialized and expensive tools? He had weekend custody, I grew up holding the lead rope and handing him tools. Fun fact, hoof trimmings are like doggy crack X10
