The two-term Florida governor officially filed the paperwork to run for president Wednesday, kicking off his much-anticipated showdown with Donald Trump — the man who helped make his political career but now wants to end it.

DeSantis plans to publicly announce his bid Wednesday evening. He will take the unconventional step of launching his campaign on Twitter in a conversation with Elon Musk. The billionaire tech mogul has amassed an intense conservative following since buying Twitter and transforming it into a social media platform more welcoming to right-wing voices — including those who were once banned for spreading disinformation.

I can't even imagine how dirty, vindictive and divisive this campaign will be in the GOP.

MAGA will stay behind Trump and destroy DeSantis' image.

    Traitor and RINO.

Get ready for the bloodiest political spectacle of our generation.

DeSantis will be a non-factor and possibly drop out before the year ends

It won't hold a candle to the venom that the Democrats will be throwing at whoever wins the nomination.

The venom that the Democrats will throw at the Republican candidate doesn't taste at all like the venom you throw at each other.

    It will be epic.

So much so that if Trump wins the nomination, DeSantis' political career will be in jeopardy.

The real question is how will DeSantis compare to Trump a month from now after DeSantis has laid out his plan via Twitter, the echo chamber for him. I am sure fact-checking will be in real-time, along with all sorts of comments, but he won't read them or even respond to them with a conversation by Musk geared towards a soft interview. I bet it will mostly focus "woke" and cultural wars, but nothing else.

The "f Joe Biden" crowd accusing the Dems of throwing venom... Priceless...

Back on topic, it was only a matter of time before DeSantis was going to get into the race. He probably knows that it's not great timing running against Trump, but he cannot go against his own bottomless ambition. If I was Republican, I'd not be looking forward to this primary. It will be a bloodbath and nobody will be coming out smelling like roses. Although, for the Trump base it won't matter, they will vote for either Trump or DeSantis. For the independents, it might be a different matter...

The venom that Trump will throw at DeSantis will be even more epic and funny at the same time. DeSantis will respond in the same.

Repubs are going to do that to themselves. We will see where their loyalties lie. Will they back Trump who they said all should be loyal to him or will they move on to the next best thing. It will be interesting.

Can't wait to hear the republican response when Trump accuses De Santis of election fraud.

I can guarantee you that whoever gets the nomination won’t be called a racist by his VP pick.

Forget about all that and worry about how Biden will perform when debating Trump or DeSantis.,

    LoL

So Steve, are you going to stick with Trump?

Because if you go to DeSantis, in order to attract the MAGA vote, he too will have to say that the 2020 election is rigged.

And do you know what happens to election denier candidates?

    They get beaten.

My wife is going with Trump, I’m going with DeSantis, and my ex fiancé who works for the democrat party in CA is going to write-in Sanders.

To be fair it’s a massive improvement at f*** your feelings while they run around melting like snowflakes. A vastly improved from the “the only good democrat is a dead one”.

I mean what more can you expect from a group that believes education is the enemy?

    STILL With That DEBUNKED Bullshit?:bored:
Harris NEVER Called Biden a "racist"! Period!
    So?
Why would anybody be caught (for the umpteenth time) repeating Debunked Bullshit?
    Puzzling...:smdh:
Harris prefaced her attack in the June 27, 2019, debate by telling Biden, "I do not believe you are a racist."
    The Exact Quote:
"I do not believe you are a racist.”

Ron doesn’t stand a chance — the pro trump branch will never be persuaded. If you want to laugh your ass off just read through the trump forums.

I cannot decide between “Rob” DeSaster or Ron DeSedative.

To be honest, between trump and ronda — I would have to vote trump.

The GOP should worry about Trump being AFRAID to Debate DeSantis...
My prediction is that Trump WON'T appear in the 1st Round of Primary Debates (and, maybe not any), b/c he knows he will get his ass handed to him by Ron D....

LOL you looked at your brilliant woke educations strategy, let's see where our children rank in comparison to the world again? Our resident woke wants to teach that science isn't real, and boys can really be girls or doing everything they can to dumb down our tests so the unintelligent or lazy make it through easily. meanwhile every major country passing our kids in competency, science and every other measure that matters. Never ever can the left talk about education, it's as if you want kids, especially black kids to fail.

Russia collusion hoax, Trump said Nazis are fine people hoax, endless investigations with false evidence, or no evidence at all the list goes on. That all pre-dates Let's go Brandon. Remember when John McCain and Mit Romney were racists and fascists?

Yeah, Desantis is going to have some **** thrown at him. Just like the NAACP travel warning for Florida, while the chairman lives in Florida...lol

The other day I mentioned my black roommate of two years, the black man my cousin married, and how I was married to a Puerto Rican for twelve years. Do you know how a liberal on this board responded to that? He said the first sign a person is racist is when he tells you about his black friends. AJ, imagine if I was talking to you and started the conversation like this: 'I'm not calling you a friggin idiot but....' you'd immediately know where I was going which is what Harris did.

Harris, you might know her as being that little girl, played the race card on Biden and you know it. In fact, Biden's wife is still pissed about it.
