The KKK never "switched sides" and it was founded by the Democrats. The Republicans and the Conservatives of this country reject any notion or idea that the KKK is anything but a racist organization formed by racist Democrats after they lost the Civil War. Nobody "switched sides". In fact, the Democrats elected a KKK member to the Senate. Hillary Clinton said some real nice things about this Grand Wizard of the KKK.

Democrats screaming racist every single chance they get screams of hypocrisy since it was the Democrats who were in favor of slavery and formed groups such as the KKK.

Hollywood has always been liberal, it's why many ignore them. If Reagan was so dumb what does that say about your party that he beat in a landslide election?

    Who said Reagan was dumb.

He got his introduction to politics by fronting for the Chicago mob as president of the Screen Actor’s Guild.

And Reagan was a punchline for Johnny Carson and others for decades, as I suspect, you well know. He was prone to making the ridiculous comment, something Trump has adopted.

The difference is that Reagan could say the sort of stuff that has right wingers nodding in front of their tv, even as the audience was laughing.

He wasn’t malicious about it. He was just getting in the national news for a second or two.

Trump does it with malice, and does so constantly.

Again the Union Army during negotiations attempted to move their forces onto the island in Confederate waters and attempted to us Confederate transgress through Confederate waters to resupply and rearm for the purpose of a blockade. An act of war. Negotiations would have continued without the military move by the Union.

So if California or Washinton or Vermont secede's are they all traitors? Would the US invade and force them back into the Union?

He made the first tactical military move to blockade the port. He entered South Carolina/Confederate waters to try and resupply and arm and reinforce and was repelled. Then he launched a full scale invasion.

Wow, you have to be making that up. He actually opposed communist infiltration in Hollywood. https://www.apnews.com/43e9c90d8177871105953a7c4728a781

No, he made statements of truth that the LW called 'gaffes', such as the Soviet Union was an evil empire, tear down this wall, etc.

This thread is about Reagan, not TDS.

Since the United States did not recognize “Confederate waters” (nor did anyone else), you don’t have a point!

    And?

I voted for him twice. I still cannot believe that any political party would sell its soul to a scumbag like Trump.

My mom hated Ronald Reagan. She called him a second rate cowboy actor.

Actually, he was a better actor than that, but Jack Warner only gave him a few really good roles (King’s Row being the most notable).

After that, it was GE appliances and Twenty Mule Team Borax and GOP politics.

He declared war on the Confederate States of America that's a pretty strong recognition.
The Confederate States did and no question they were South Carolina protected waters. and in the middle of negotiations moved to arm and reinforce for the purpose of a blockade an act of war on the Confederate States. The Union made a tactical military move the Confederacy responded. And still no need for Lincoln to mass a full invasion.

1989: Successful run in special election for Louisiana House seat
In December 1988, Duke changed his political affiliation from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party.[22]

In 1988, Republican State Representative Charles Cusimano of Metairie resigned his District 81 seat to become a 24th Judicial District Court judge, and a special election was called early in 1989 to select a successor. Duke entered the race to succeed Cusimano and faced several opponents, including fellow Republicans John Spier Treen, a brother of former Governor David C. Treen; Delton Charles, a school board member; and Roger F. Villere, Jr., who operates Villere's Florist in Metairie. Duke finished first in the primary with 3,995 votes (33.1%).[23] As no one received a majority of the vote in the first round, a runoff election was required between Duke and Treen, who polled 2,277 votes (18.9%) in the first round of balloting. Treen's candidacy was endorsed by U.S. President George H. W. Bush, former President Ronald Reagan, and other notable Republicans,[24] as well as Democrats Victor Bussie (president of the Louisiana AFL-CIO) and Edward J. Steimel (president of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry and former director of the "good government" think tank, the Public Affairs Research Council). Duke, however, hammered Treen on a statement the latter had made indicating a willingness to entertain higher property taxes, anathema in that suburban district.[25] Duke, with 8,459 votes (50.7%), defeated Treen, who polled 8,232 votes (49.3%).[26] He served in the House from 1989 until 1992.[27]

Sure they did. A former leader of KKK won a seat as a R.

So? Confederates were traitors. Stealing USA land.
Who fired the 1st shot? The confederate traitors of the USA.

Of course they'd be traitors. Unless of course, the USA gov't openly lets them go, legally.

No they didn't. Democrats formed it to stunt the efforts of the reconstruction then embraced it while serving in the Senate then tried to distance themselves and blame others for it. SOP from the Democrats and progressives since they started meddling in government. Next, you'll be trying to blame Republicans for Communism and fascism.

Who made the first military threat, the Union Army. Who invaded who the Union invaded. The Confederacy was defending itself.

He was always a racist Democrat, regardless. Why do you make excuses for Democrats and the racist party, the KKK?

Yes, he was always a D. That's why R's elected him. The stuff people put into their minds, is boggling.

Bringing up anything Reagan said is history, why can't you folks embrace your own history? Oh right, liberal hypocrisy...

Not likely, he accomplished to much for that comment to even be a footnote in anything but a full comprehensive background check, or rabid liberals that post it as their wall paper so they don't forget...
