The reality is the things the US has to give China is not skilled labor.

That's why this trade is not really creating good American jobs. Even though manufacturing jobs got hollowed out in the Rust Belt.

What China wants from the US is mainly agricultural commodities.

And not even that, because China doesn't buy as much from the US as the other way around. Big trade deficits, that have existed for quite a while, maybe 25 years.

China's taking that money and just buying the farms up, so now they own the farms. America loses its wealth.
Or they just sit on top of all that money and draw interest from it.

It's no surprise things have been booming in China and America has been hollowed out.

China does everything it can to increase exports and limit imports. They have high luxury tariffs so their wealthy citizens won't spend too much on expensive American or European products.
They often don't enforce their own regulations to keep costs low for their industries, which helps allow their industries to export at bare bottom prices.
No ridiculous lawsuits like in the US.
No minorities claiming they were discriminated against, costing the business $400,000 in legal fees and settlements.

No, because China isn't that stupid.

The point is while conservatives moan about illegals they are the enablers. Like I said, hypocrites.

Farm subsidies are exactly the type of socialist policy conservatives hate. Except in this case it is ok because they are on the receiving end of it. Hypocrisy rules the day.

Farm subsidies need to go away. Just like everything in the farm bill do away with it all and move food stamp, snap and other things like them to welfare bills.

China cheats in foreign trade. We have two options: fight back and get them to change their ways, or just accept China cheating and move on with our lives.

If we fight, there will be short term pain for long term gain. But maybe we're soft and we don't have the stomach for a fight.

The irony is that so much of the farm belt folks voted for DJT.

They are now experiencing buyer's regret because they fell for the illusions offered by the candidate.

Most of them are still with Trump. They realize China cheats in international trade and something has to be done about it.

I'm guessing you have no problem with China cheating, stealing technology, stealing intellectual property, etc. That's pretty pathetic of you.

All humans cheat. It is part of the human condition. Life is a beach, and then you die. Bummer.

"Cheating" in the Swamp is standard behavior. That is what brings us the specious notion of American Exceptionalism. Cheating is why the US holds itself above the law and the ICC.

    Cry me a river.

Ok, you have no problem with China's behavior. And you don't want to do anything to change their behavior. You don't care if the U.S. is being taken advantage of.

    Well, at least you're honest.

The US being taken advantage of? That is humorous.

Turnabout is fair play, which is another way to describe what some call Karma.

Changing the behavior of humans through intimidation and coercion seldom works as planned. More often, the unintended consequences of such efforts cause more harm than good.

I'm with Jefferson, friendly and mutually beneficial relations with all nations, entangling alliances with none.

    Naive.

China steals technology and intellectual property. They play unfair in international trade. And you have no problem with that? How foolish.

    Your opinion is meaningless.

The US can't keep falling for their currency manipulation...regardless of who is in the White House.

As is yours. The leaders of this country will do as they please, no matter how reckless or harmful or illegal or foolish it might be. They don't care about our opinions. We can eat cake as far as they are concerned.
