I'm surprised no one had posted about this before...

Russell Brand accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse

Russell Brand has been accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse over a seven-year period at the height of his fame.

The allegations between 2006 and 2013 were the result of a joint investigation by the Sunday Times, the Times and Channel 4 Dispatches. Brand denies the allegations.

Five alleged victims, four of them anonymous, were interviewed in the Dispatches documentary aired on Saturday night.

I don't necessarily consider myself a fan of Russell Brand, although I've listened to his podcasts several times. He's had some good interviews lately, but this smacks of a deliberate attack for things that apparently were never a big deal for years until a few days ago. So what changed? He's on the left, so he should be protected, but oops, he's a lefty populist, so he has to be destroyed. He's not an enemy, he's a traitor and apparently that's worse.

This is an interesting case; I don't know too much about it. But, I've heard he went through a phase where he was a sex addict, and he talked women into fulfilling his sexual fantasies. Some later felt guilty or wronged by him for going along with it. One of the girls was 16 at the time, but 16 was the statute of limitations where the act occurred. I've also heard, but haven't confirmed, that the women came forward only after being approached by the media and/or encouraged by the staffers.

Brand claims all of the encounters were consensual. But it's obviously highly embarrassing for him. YouTube has already demonetized him, cutting off a good chunk of his income stream ahead of any legal battles he'll face. I imagine Hollywood will also quickly blacklist him since he's not Roman Polanski.

I'm wondering why the media decided to do a hit piece on him after all these years. Why now?

I was going to say Russell who, but I looked it up.

"Russell Edward Brand is an English comedian, actor, writer, activist, and conspiracy theorist. Brand has received three British Comedy Awards"

So, he is a British comedian and someone is accusing him of rape. All righty then.

I primarily know how him from his acting, but haven't personally liked any of his movies that I've seen. He has a very strange and overly essentric personality and because of that I found it difficult to get into his characters because of it.

He then started discussing politics and would do long form monologues and interviews. Initially, he came across as extremely liberal to me and would debate conservatives. But, over time he would spend more time researching the history and facts of an issue and he turned more populist. This seemed true the more he engaged with conservatives. He's not conservative, but it feels like he's made a niche for himself online criticizing liberal views from a liberal perspective which created some enemies for him and brought in some conservative followers. He has that Joe Rogan quality where he's willing to hear someone's perspective and internalize it. He's not afraid to challenge his preconceived conceptions. Some of my very liberal friends used to share his clips with me when he was starting out and they thought he was genius. But, they've either completely stopped watching him by now or have just stopped sharing his videos. I suspect the former. I don't think they agree with him anymore.

He has a Scott Adams vibe to him (another person I can't stand) where they try to formulate a very unique perspective on an issue they perceived nobody else has and then try to convince you that they're enlightened and you should think like them.

I think liberals have largely written him off because of his criticisms, so the people I would guess mostly watch him are libertarian or moderate conservatives.

That said, I can't watch him for very long because I find his overly essentric personality fake and kind of annoying. I've mostly seen clips that get shared, but I don't seek him out. So I'm probably not the best person to describe him, but that's my take on the little I do know of him.

He was a sex addict as well as a drug addict, voluntarily homeless and basically a deliberate degenerate in every way until pretty late in his career, did a 180 (well, maybe a 160) and started talking about politics, first from a 'legalize drugs' sort of perspective and then from a very anti-globalist, and 'conspiracy' perspective.

So now the media has found some of his sex partners from his degenerate past, who were likely just as trashed as he was, who are now willing to say he 'raped' them, probably in exchange for a juicy 'exclusive interview fee' and the possibility of book rights if the story gets popular.

Smells like a hit job to me, one that he set himself right up for, to be fair.

Yes, so it's technically not illegal, but still pretty creepy. Some of the stories that have come out about him are pretty bad, if true.

I think he was sexual talking and took things too far sometimes, but not so sure any more than that

"Kathy Griffin claims Russell Brand sexually harassed her friend"

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/ente...ssell-brand-sexually-harassed-her-friend.html

people have to be careful, especially sexual ones, it may seem harmless, others may see it differently

"kathy griffin sexually assaults anderson cooper on live TV"

    https://www.reddit.com/r/cringe/comments/5jcktd/kathy_griffin_sexually_assaults_anderson_cooper/

where it really becomes an issue imo, is when someone makes it clear one crossed the line, and they keep doing it
