I agree that our Foreign Policy toward Russia has been dismal if not non-existant.

But we are perfectly capable of Economically forcing Putin out of office.

Putin's Militaristic exploits exist to hide the money he and his buddies are stealing.

    Well said.
The fools who have multiplied or been encouraged to come here through promises of a great life at others expense has totally crippled the other 49% of us who realize the perils ahead.
The 51% is too busy playing video games, watching the Kardashians or reading the Nation Enquirer or InTouch etc.
Too many enjoying their government biscuits.

Can't see a way out at this point.
A civil war would further weaken the nation and allow an opportunity for Russia and China. Doing nothing just belays the inevitable until we are that much weaker.
Seems we are headed for very dark times.
How long we have is probably the question.

There is one thing that has always made the U.S. come out of dim or dark times....INNOVATION.

We have been the originators and designers of new and completely different ECONOMIC MODELS AND WORLD MARKETS....and we are about to do it again.

    In ENERGY.

I dont see American trolls in this forum speaking about how great and scary their country is, only Russians do that for some reason, obviously your ppl are very worried about something.

The USA is great and scary ! Lol, Hows that Gilos ? I hope what seems inevitable isn't inevitable. A full out war between the superpowers and the rest of the world would be horrific. The scary part is that everyone seems to have forgotten what a nuclear war would do to this planet. reva

The tactic that "the West" used to break the Russian economy -- manipulating commodity prices and currencies, didn't work. "The West's" big central banks, the European Central Bank, the Federal Reserve combine, the Bank of England, et al, began that campaign last summer, targeting energy prices, which is ostensibly the Russian economy's life's blood.

But Russia has ridden out that storm, largely because it has such a tiny percent of national debt versus GDP -- the extreme opposite of the way we operate in the U. S. Also, Putin was not idle... he put together massive new agreements and collaborations with other oil-producing nations in Asia, and concluded an enormous new energy contract with China. He also stepped up military cooperation with the Chinese and had the Russian military conduct joint military exercises with them.

Moreover, Russia rather artfully "stirred the pot" in the EU's own economic situation by antagonizing the Greeks behind-the-scenes, which has caused such distress for the Germans (most of whom never wanted to participate in "sanctions" against Russia in the first place). Thus, the central bankers and the IMF had to "take their eye off the ball" with their effort to absorb Ukraine through the stooge-junta they put in place in Kiev. Bigger fat was in the fire, and besides, the Kiev faction lost the Ukrainian civil war earlier this year anyway.

Going forward, the Germans will cave on the Greek debt, making economic life safe for the productive, responsible portions of the EU that are forced to provide endless "loans" that will never be repaid, to the unproductive, irresponsible portions of the EU that are even more socialistic than their benefactors....

The big, hooptie "negotiations" that we are conducting with Iran will effectively end in the Iranians telling us that they forbid us to inspect anything that they don't WANT us to inspect... and that will be the end of that. Obama and Kerry will rally the hyperliberal "news" media to declare this travesty a "victory" of some kind, and the Iranians WILL have nuclear weapons, probably at least one before Obama finally (FINALLY) leaves office.

Through the use and deployment of new state-of-the-art aircraft, naval vessels, nuclear-tipped missiles, and a revitalized Russian Army, Russia is rapidly becoming the ultimate power-broker in the entire Eastern Hemisphere, while we decline in confusion and decay right in front of the whole world....

My comments are directed exclusively at a reasonable discussion. With reasonable people. But if a person at any post about the problems in the US or the EU writes - "but Russian is even worse." Besides not having evidence. Repeating the words crazy, like McCain, for example.
Therefore, with such opponents is impossible to conduct a reasonable debate.
I think so, if the theme of Russia - we are talking about Russia. But if the theme of the US - we're talking about the United States.

But it turns out : the topic - "In the US, bad ....". Comment - "in Russia is even worse ...." And so on any topic.

You not see?... But this is not surprising. You do not need to see and to think - for you see and think Western media. You just repeat something, that they say.

And yet we high-and-mighty Americans can't even fly our own damn missions in orbital space (or any other kind) without the help of Russia!

I'm an old guy. I remember the day that Neil Armstrong placed his feet on the ground on the Moon for the very first time. I remember when this country wasn't a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing JOKE, with a distracted, America-hating socialist moron for its president. I remember when Americans would have laughed until they fell down at the mere thought that we'd have to ask the Russians to take us to and from an orbiting space station.

    Well said.

The People of the United States are always looking for ways to make things better for us....and we admit our mistakes and try to learn from them.

It would seem the Collapse of the Soviet Union is a lesson that Putin learned NOTHING from at all.

Neither Russia or the U.S. will ever again come close to a Nuclear War.

But there are new players on the Block who need a few Lessons given to them.

Only an Insane Person would ever go Nuclear....but there are Nations that might use 1 or 2 Fission Bombs 5 to 10 Kilotons Max.

If this happened we would have to make an example of them.

I don't see GILOS doing that.

The Media in the U.S. depending upon Channel or Corp. has very different opinions as all possibilities are explored.

In Russia...well the Media is completely controlled by Putin.

The very best thing that could happen to Russia is to PARTER ITSELF WITH THE UNITED STATES!!!

This will not happen while Putin is control of Russia as we would never allow him and his buddies to keep stealing the Russian Peoples Money.

You are correct as far as what we have been allowing to happen.

But we could EASILY turn this around.

It is all about U.S. POLITICAL WILL.

Putin does not care how much hardship he put's the Russian People though so we hit him another way....CHINA!!!

The U.S. and Canada can easily and CHEAPLY supply all of China's Oil and LNG and Coal Needs.

As well we could tell China you continue working with Putin....we month by month decline the allowed amount of Chinese Imports into the U.S.

The Chinese Economy cannot survive without these Exports to the U.S.

We and Canada will become the worlds LARGEST SUPPLIERS OF ENERGY...far surpassing the Middle East....and it is starting to happen right now.

This would have Putin's supporters remove him from office as 80% of the Russian Economy is from sales of Energy.

Russia could not survive the hit.

AboveAlpha....... I am sorry if what I am about to say turns out eventually to be proven to be untrue....... but....... based on the Helen Wambach Ph. D. research....... I really do think that President Putin is probably my great, great, great, graet..... grandson from one or more of my probable past lives......… when I was probably Russian?????!

I am convinced that America, Canada, Russia and China....... can begin to cooperate on some projects that are simple......down to earth....... and obvious win - win - win - win scenarios for all of us...… and for all the world........

    P. M. Stephen Harper may well only have six more months as P. M. and he is perfect for this...…

    http://www.politicalforum.com/relig...s-p-m-brokering-jordan-israel-peace-deal.html

Please pray or meditate on Canada's P. M. brokering Jordan - Israel peace deal?

I know that many of you pray or meditate so please

pray that P. M. Stephen Harper initiate a peace deal between Jordan and Israel?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am a member of a different Canadian political party but……… I have to admit that P. M. Stephen Harper is for good reason regarded as a rather "Davidic" figure by a high percentage of Israelis.

What he did for Israel back in 2011 at the G-8 was one of the most courageous and wise acts by a political leader that I have seen since I began to watch world events back in the '70's!

There's a lot of hypotheticals in your post, but yes, in theory, all that you describe could happen... but it probably won't.

A couple of reasons why not include the fact that Russia and China will have pipelines to deliver the energy products -- simple, cheap, and relatively close-by. As you say, the U. S. and Canada would have to pipe all the way from our fields to refineries or liquification plants, further transport oil and/or gas to big coastal depots, such as as the one we have at Coos Bay, Oregon, load all this stuff on tanker ships, and then sail it a third of the way around the planet, where it is finally off-loaded at receiving/distribution facilities in China. All this extra "handling" and transporting would have to be added to the selling price and that would make it very expensive compared to the Russian sales/delivery model.

Another problem arises when we imagine that we can just dictate who the Chinese must, and must not, do business with. Go into any American store and look at nearly anything. Where was it made... China? Yes, they need us, but the corollary of that is that we need them... probably a bit more than they need us. Take a look at the opening paragraphs from this: http://blogs.reuters.com/great-deba...on-chinese-goods-invites-beijing-adventurism/ . In addition to that, we owe the Chinese $1.3 Trillion Dollars. Just a thought, before we start trying to bully China with a boycott of some kind.

But the biggest Achilles' Heel you mentioned is that about an "American will". Today, we have next to none. We are a completely misguided, disoriented, demoralized nation, with a pack of doctrinaire amateur bureaucrats in Washington D. C. trying to stuff a politically-correct socialist ideology down our throats. We have been subverted and seduced for six years by a welfare-shoveling government that has invited everyone to enjoy a work-free subsistence existence, funded by remaining taxpayers. All of this is lead by an wholly out-of-place "pied piper" from an academic fairyland -- Barack Obama.

Thus, we are essentially without any competent leadership at all, and with less and less leverage in our dealings with a growing number of other nations in the world. Now. Juxtapose that with the situation Russia and China have with their own leadership today. Daylight and dark! They are in the ascendancy, and we are seriously in decline and decay....

Today, could we destroy Russia? Could we destroy China? Sure! And the corollary of that is that they can destroy us, too. Stalemate. Which leaves us right back at the beginning... but that will change right after Iran demonstrates that it does, indeed, have nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them!

Yes, I know that we can, but we haven't, and if we elect that doctrinaire, old socialist hippie-chick bag, Hillary, to the White House, we will remain dependent on whoever is willing to let us hitch a ride off the planet. Perhaps you missed my point. It never was that I thought we couldn't sustain our own space program (like we used to) -- it's that we DON'T. After all, we've got so many people on welfare and subsidies now that we need to support... right?! And everything I see on the horizon tells me that it will be many years more before we have our own space program again (if ever).

It is all about POLITICAL WILL.

When President Reagan warned...."HEY! If you MotherF@#%!@# do that again.....we are going to do....THIS!!! And you are NOT going to like it!!"

And Leaders from other Nations around the world KNEW REAGAN WAS DEAD SERIOUS!!!

If Putin KNEW....that if he invaded and Annexed the Crimea that the U.S. would put the Economic Screws upon Russia in a way NO ONE WOULD MAKE MONEY IN RUSSIA.....Putin would never have invaded.

Our Foreign Policy Plan if there is one at all SUCKS!!!

Oh...by the way...that $1.3 Trillion we owe China is just better for us as China forgot the GOLDEN RULE OF LENDING!!

NEVER lend money to anyone, any group or any Nation that you have absolutely NO WAY OF FORCING PAYMENT!!!

The U.S. could completely collapse the Chinese Economy in a week by a combination of anouncing the refusal of entry of any and all Chinese Exports into the U.S.....and there is NOTHING we import from China we really need.....as well as stop all payments upon those $1.3 Trillion in Loans.

The Chinese Economy would collapse just by SPECULATORS ALONE!!

Perhaps everything you say could have been true -- if (IF) we had had another president like Ronald Reagan. Instead, we installed, and, re-installed a nothingness like Barack Obama. The result of those tragic decisions are evident. Anything I could add to that would be superfluous....

Next, in all likelihood, comes another doctrinaire socialist with a big chip on her shoulder... Hillary Clinton. Americans who have been cultured to get endless amounts of something-for-nothing from the government will swarm to vote for her in droves!

[IMG] "Don't forget who's gonna be shoveling your your welfare goody next!"

and you may be sure that nobody is happier at the thought of her being elected than this man:

[IMG] "Three American presidents in a row who are complete morons?! Could I be THAT lucky?!"

The US doesn't have any WILL anymore. We threw every good deed and intention away on crap holes like Iraq and Afghanistan. You can't make chocolate pudding out of (*)(*)(*)(*) but the US spent billions of dollars and wasted the lives of thousands of fine American military trying to do that. They died for nothing.

Meanwhile we had a big recession and many lives here at home were wrecked or changed into something worse. Many people will never recover their old life style and lots of young people never even got off the ground. Our WILL is gone and now we have half the population getting welfare of one kind or another and over 90 million people don't even work at all anymore.

You make it sound so easy for us to knock off Russia and China. All we have to do is turn speculators loose on them? Its going to take a hell of a lot more than that, but we aren't doing anything but getting weaker and stupider every day.

Energy prices in the U.S. are the most inexpensive in the World.

We need leadership yes....but I am not worried about the U.S.

We are simply too massive a Global System.

WTF? Even if a missile misses Washington by 5 miles the city would still be destroyed! You don't need pin-point accuracy with an ICBM. Oh, and Russian satellites can track yours as well as them having "launch on warning" capability.
