European countries pledge over $2.7 million for war crimes investigation in Ukraine

From CNN’s James Frater in Brussels

The Netherlands, Sweden and Germany have pledged $2.7 million to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to support its investigation of possible war crimes committed in Ukraine.

EU Foreign Ministers in Luxembourg met via videoconference with ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan at a meeting convened by Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Wopke Hoekstra on Monday.

Following the meeting, Hoekstra said, “The deployment of the Criminal Court is one of the most important tracks towards justice for Ukrainians.” The Netherlands wants “justice to follow for the victims of the Russian invasion.”

Hoekstra pledged over $1 million on behalf of the Netherlands to the ICC to support its investigation.

Germany said in a news release the country was also pledged an additional $1 million to the court.

Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde announced in a statement that Sweden would also provide an extra half a million euros, saying, “the ICC needs the full support of the international community.”

Last week, the European Union set aside a dedicated $8 million to support and train Ukrainian prosecutors in investigating possible war crimes.

The ICC formally opened an investigation into the situation in Ukraine on March 2.

It's not looking good for Putler and his war-criminal thugs.

Hi Bill, without wanting to downplay your very admirable qualities as a valued poster here, there comes a point when your content just becomes a bit silly. I know you have a role to play and am sure you're doing it to the best of your capability but can I introduce you to one of the "roleplayers" on another site I read....this is an example of the stuff he writes....

    upload_2022-4-11_17-19-20.png

This guy is at least making an attempt at sounding credible...there are little things to look out for though like the use of the name "Chernigov" for example...this tends to give the game away slightly so one knows who and what we're dealing with. On the face of it anyone reading this would assume an informed opinion as opposed to some of the above....

anyway....suppose I'll expect the obvious return post content....

The US has begun installing Aegis Ashore missile defense systems at Redzikowo base in Poland, the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) said in a statement.

Where are these missiles aimed? London?
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
London. June 22. INTERFAX-The United States has begun to deploy weapons at the anti-missile defense base being created in northern Poland in Redzikovo, the Missile Defense Agency reported.

"The installation of weapons of the Aegis ground-based missile defense system in Poland has begun," the report says.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
US missiles are already in Poland and their size allows them to carry a nuclear warhead at a distance of up to 1,500 kilometers.

It is an anti ballistic missile system, not a surface to surface system. We already have one operating in Romania, incidentally: https://www.defensenews.com/pentago...of-aegis-ashore-in-poland-nearing-completion/

All it means for your militaristic regime is that it won't pose such a missile threat to Europe.

The name of the missiles does not matter. Their dimensions make it possible to carry a nuclear warhead at a distance of 1,500 kilometers.

If you say so. Russia has missiles that could carry nuclear warheads into Europe, so it makes sense to have a defense against that.

It makes no sense to have ABM's on Russia's border in Eastern Europe. Thats part of what brought us this fisasco in Ukraine .. and the ABMs are mostly useless anyway.

US missiles are stationed in Poland. They target Russian missiles capable of reaching the US. Europe has nothing to do with it at all.

Funny you mention that, because savvy travelers bring camping equipment when driving the Lena Highway in huge Russian Empire. No joke...

Is that right? Sounds like it is more important than I first realized that we have ABM systems in Poland, then.

There is no missile defense system in Poland. She is useless. If Russia starts first, then the base in Redzikovo will be destroyed in 2 minutes from Kaliningrad and not a single missile will have time to start from it. The base in Redzikovo makes sense only as a surprise attack by Russian silo missiles.

Lol. OK. So now you've gone from hand-wringing about non-existent nuclear warheads in Poland to boasting that the Aegis Ashore system would be "useless" and destroyed in 2 minutes.

You might want to pause and rethink your propaganda a little ;)

All that effort for nothing. Billions, if not trillions wasted and still no defence against the Russian hypersonic missiles, which are operational, a polite reminder for those with a short memory.

Why Russia's Hypersonic Missiles Can't Be Seen on Radar

    https://www.military.com/equipment/...personic-missiles-cant-be-seen-radar.html/amp

U.S. Aegis missile interceptor systems require 8-10 seconds of reaction time to intercept incoming attacks. In those 8-10 seconds, the Russian Zircon missiles will already have traveled 20 kilometers, and the interceptor missiles do not fly fast enough to catch up.

According to Popular Mechanics, even if a U.S. ship were to detect a Zircon missile from 100 miles away, it would have only one minute to do something about it.

I'm talking facts. If you respect logic, you will never name the missile base in Redzikovo as a missile defense base. Its life time is only 2 minutes before destruction. As a missile defense base, it does not even have time to see its first target. This US missile base is only useful in one way. This is a surprise attack by Russian missiles in mines and on mobile platforms. Whoever built this base has a plan to attack first. No options.

Does anyone have any reliable source about the Ukrainian losses so far. Take into consideration that 25,000+ Ukrainian troops were based in Mariupol. An estimate will do. Cheers.

Why should it be any worse off than Russian missile installations in Kaliningrad?

A nuclear missile takes 30 minutes to fly from Kaliningrad to Washington. From Poland to Moscow 10 min. The NATO bloc has upset the balance of security in its favor. Because of this, the war began in Ukraine.
