At age 5 I started kindergarten and we had drills hiding under our tables ( we did not have our own desks in kindergarten). My parents explained to me that where they came from Russians were enemies for a thousand years. Where my parents were from the Russians invaded in 1939. Yes I am being just a little hyperbolic. Actually, they are. I go to Russia 7-8 times a year at least, and an average Russian I meet on the streets of Moscow is not all that different from my neighbor - same desires, same ideas, same worries. And the russkies like Americans, too. Leadership is a whole different story, of course. And no, I do not remember air raid or a nike raid drills - I'm old enough, but the country I've lived in was small enough not to worry about such things
