No, that's not the point I was trying to make. But I'm tired, and I'm going home now. I'll have to pick back up on this on Monday and I'll do my best to try to explain.

I wish you all a very nice, molestation free weekend. Unless of course, you are age of consent and want to be molested, then get your rocks off! ;-)

No homosexuals are pedophiles. Only pedophiles are pedophiles.

That is not what any of this is about. The age of consent laws have been going up for decades. So nothing more than chicken little from some.

But, in the 1800s and before, many females were married in early teens.
The mother of the christian religion, was 12-14 at the birth of Jesus.

Nice. You prove his post just one post later. Well done.

    - - - Updated - - -

Acceptable to do what? Act on it. Not one single poster has said pedophilia is ok and should be legal or acted upon.

And if fish had legs, they'd need bicycles.

Conservative social paranoia is debilitating. You may want to seek help for that.

The only people who get fired for having opinions that "go against the narrative" are people who express those opinions in extreme, inappropriate ways, in a way that casts bad light on the employer. Using one's work email address to spread racist emails, for instance. Or obnoxious liberal political rants.

Basically, being a dick can get you fired. As has always been the case.

Again, when people admit they have a problem, you help them. You don't punish them.

I get that you'd just like them to go away. But I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about "what outcome are you looking for?" Your refusal to explore the ramifications of your "fire 'em all" attitude is why so many conservative ideas lead to the OPPOSITE of what conservatives claim to want.

If pedophiles know they will be fired if they come forward, they won't come forward. They will remain hidden, their urges untreated. Result? More children molested than otherwise. More people in jail than otherwise. More lives ruined than otherwise.

Wouldn't we be better off HELPING people who come forward and want to change, rather than punishing them for things they haven't yet done?

Similarly, those that DO come forward will suddenly be unable to find work, forcing them to go on welfare. Meaning MORE people on welfare than otherwise.

These outcomes strike me as the OPPOSITE of what you should want. Which is why it's not a distraction to explore those outcomes.

Curt was fired for posting an offensive image that was totally disparaging to transgender people.
    http://www.outsports.com/2016/4/19/11461618/curt-schilling-espn-transgender

He was not fired for holding his views; he was fired for expressing them in a deeply offensive way, on a public forum. Pretty much a no-no when you're a broadcaster, because being a broadcaster makes you part of the face of the company, and everything you do as a broadcaster reflects upon the company.

Had he instead been a custodian at ESPN, it almost certainly wouldn't have gotten any media attention, and wouldn't have led to a firing, because custodians are not the face of the company.

By contrast, Salon did what many publishing outlets do -- publish an opinion piece. It did not reflect upon Salon. As I said, all it shows is that Salon is willing to publish a variety of opinions. Just like the owner of this forum doesn't approve or agree with every (or even most) opinions expressed here -- they are committed to diversity of opinion, which includes things they don't agree with and things that are frankly offensive.

In regards to the pedophile, were he a staffer, Salon would have every right to fire him -- pedophiles are not a protected class. But because of the ramifications I outline above, I think that would be foolish. Make him get help; place restrictions on his interactions with children. But let him keep his job unless he moves on toward ADVOCATING pedophilia.

Only a conservative would see someone explaining themselves as "walls of smoke." Good Lord.

See my comment about this forum. Do you think someone posting a pedophilia thread on this forum reflects badly on the forum? No, because the forum's purpose is to foster discussion. That's exactly what the opinion section of a publication is for as well. That's why the New York Times publishes opinion pieces by people the editorial board vehemently disagrees with, as well as pieces by people they agree with. They're committed to the debate, not the arguments made in each piece.

Yes, they thought it was a thought-provoking piece. It does not mean they agree with the author. This is what news publications DO.

Only if the attack was motivated by race. Not every white-on-black attack (or black-on-white attack) is a hate crime. Indeed, most aren't, because proving racial motivation is tough.

Pedophilia is not a sexual preference. But you go with that if it helps you
believe that homosexuality is not in the same category of mental illnesses
    as pedophilia.

What I'm embarrassed about is reading your post about "feeling" and boys thinking they are girls because of their "feeling" and children making decisions on love and non of that has anything to do with the original post or the thread.
But go ahead carry on, your on a roll. Next you'll compare it to when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

This is not equivalent. In your example, a crime has already been committed motivation is merely adding extra penalties. This is not out of the ordinary as murder changes depending on motivation from manslaughter, homicide and premeditated murder.

On the other hand, the writer at Salon did not commit any crimes so motivation is not a factor.

Another straw man, nobody actually does those things but in your twisted conservative minds. You cherry pick incidents that are generally a lot different from what you say or you just flat out make them up

I haven't posted since I posted this thread last night, and I don't have time to read the whole thread yet, but Geddon has perfectly summed up my feeling about the whole thing.

It's obvious this sickness will be the progressive's next frontier.

    Salon is a liberal sewer.

I think we should put all pedophiles on an island somewhere.

Come to think of it, the pedo island Bill Clinton hangs out on is a good choice.

They let me pick out what I wanted from as early as I can recall honestly. I'm not sure if I made some great choices in the matter, but I was a kid.

As to the rest, precisely. So when I see someone openly talking of Pedophile fantasy, and facing no repercussion...even some defenders shockingly enough... I wonder if this new age of morality is chipping away at that.

That frontier started quite awhile back. The liberal psychiatrists (APA) have slowly been changing the label 'pedophile' to 'minor attracted'. They believe it's much less threatening to the pedophiles.....it's a slow process to accomplish this - it's like how a dictatorship works, slowly sneaking in, in the middle of the night....

No, not openly. However at least a couple have refused to admit that even airing such desires is wrong, and aren't concerned that this guy keeps his position. They're actually defended this scum. Perhaps they do think it's ok, just aren't ready to openly state it.

Hahah, the Germans and Pearl harbor...I thought it was the Italians. Thanks for setting me straight.

I don't recall what your position was on the Pedophile at Salon we are talking about. Should he be fired? Does it look bad for Salon?

By the way, if you don't understand the concepts of Mental Capacity and how those "feelings" posts relate exactly to what we are talking about, then perhaps you shouldn't be chiming in at all.

Good point Hummingbird, I had forgotten about that little slight of hand.

Removing the stigma is afterall the first steps in the campaign. This is also what Salon is doing.

    Absolutely.

It's called Cultural Marxism, and it's agenda is to destroy the moral fiber of the country.

Along with patriotism, tradition, spirituality, individual freedom that doesn't conform to political correctness, values, borders, the military and strength in foreign affairs, and the family unit

Gay pedophile serial killer John Wayne Gacy was extremely active in local Democratic politics.

Here's a picture of him getting cozy with Democratic First Lady Rosalyn Carter ...

My position on the the Salon story is it's BS. It's a retread from a September 2015 story. The "pedophile" has been doing this schick since 2007. Why......damned if I know, gets him attention I guess.
The Mental Capacity/ feelings post are not relevant.

Germans/Pearl Harbor is a "Animal House reference.

    Likely.

This is the founder of NAMBLA, an organisation the ACLU has defended ...

Not only a gay activist, but a Cultural Marxist, of course.
