During the Arab Spring, Obama noticed that his older advisors were more hawkish than the younger guys. The older generation, like Hillary, wanted to support Mubarik in Egypt. Stability in the ME was rare and precious. We had been propping Egypt up for a long time, despite the massive corruption and deplorable record with civil rights. The younger generation wanted to take a more neutral stance, and let things play out. Biden's first hires are the younger guys, like Blinken. Blinken's grandad survived a Nazi death camp. He was rescued by Americans The subtext there is not subtle. We have a role to play in this world. I learned about this from Rachel Maddow talking to Samantha Power. I couldn't find that video, if it pops up, I will post it. It is very much worth watching. But I did find this one:

Yeah, her having her Doctorate from Oxford University in Political Science makes her more qualified to lie to you than the high school graduate over on FOX. Just think of that for a minute. Ask yourself what's involved in going the extra miles Maddow did. Do you really think someone would push themselves that hard and that far to become an accomplished liar? You're damned right: Maddow, that explains it.
