If you fail to pay auto insurance are you required to turn in your car? Yea those Chicago gang bangers will march right down there and turn in their guns. And you actually believe they'll do it. What makes it so funny is your sincerity. Picture yourself in the middle of a turf war and it suddenly dawns on you that you forgot to pay your thuggery insurance.
You do not have a self-imposed definition of what is a "right" to use physical violence at the expense of others. Why do some gun owners can so bent out of shape of what 'defending themselves' means they extend it to criminal lengths? I doubt anyone to the center and left, other than a very few strident anti-gun activists, want to confiscate guns. We all have a right to want that mentally unbalanced people not have access to such weapons, as apparently some do.
Reading's not going to stop mass murders. Neither is having your guns insured. How is having your guns insured going to stop anything?
The obamacare mandate for guns?. Ha ha “If you like your AR-15 you can keep your AR-15” Where have we heard that before?
What's next, Miranda insurance? Maybe we could get us some search warrant insurance as well. You cannot insure your rights with paper, that's actually what the 2nd is all about, making sure you never have to...
Rest easy. Insurance companies do not report who has car insurance they only provide proof that you have it. So this is better from your standpoint than registration because it's not a government owned list.
Because if done properly people who make straw sales and stupid people who don't lock their guns will find their premiums going sky high resulting in fewer guns available on the black market.
Lets go along with your theory. How about gun grabbing insurance to cover the damage caused by denying citizens the right to defend themselves? Based on your own words, you would be required to buy 2 policies.
It will price poor people right out of their second amendment rights. Then they will have to buy a firearm smuggled into the country to afford it.
Un-fired guns are easier to smuggle into the country than drugs. A dog can't tell the difference between unfired guns and washing machine parts.
Prove it: be specific. Common sense, though, suggests insurance will be much cheaper than purchasing a firearm.
I actually have to prove that buying a firearm legally while having to prove insurance to do so will price the poor out of the market? I'll let you ask someone to explain it to you, I just don't have the patience.
No reasonable person could extract that from my post. When the goal post is moved to this extreme, it is unlikely you have anything to contribute to the discussion on reducing murder. Did you think this through to the point of being able to explain how this idea would reduce murder?
