Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who gave Hillary Clinton a run for her money in the 2016 Democratic primary, is not able to glean anything positive from the Kansas special election last week, where Democrat James Thompson lost by 6 points to his Republican opponent Ron Estes.

Despite Thompson's optimistic prospects, Democrats should have invested more in that race, Sanders said on CNN's "State on the Union" Sunday. Their failure to do so is more proof that Democrats are losing the will to win.

"So many of our people are giving up on the political process. It is very frightening. In the last presidential election, when Trump won, we had the lowest voter turnout over — in 20 years. And in the previous two years before that, in the midterm election, we had the lowest voter turnout in 70 years," Sanders said. "We're going to be fighting to see that the Democratic Party becomes a 50-state party. You can't just be a West Coast party and an East Coast party."

His analysis is similar to that of Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH). Ryan, who challenged Nancy Pelosi for the House minority leadership last year, has repeatedly insisted that his party stop catering to liberal elites in cities like San Francisco and New York and begin to focus their attention on the Rust Belt again. Their vast losses in November proved that the Democratic Party is already in "oblivion," he admitted.....snip~

Sanders is telling it like it is.....even he sees that the Demos are no longer a National Party. All their ideas are nothing more than a validation that they don't care about whats doing best for the Country and its people.

Its not just resistance against Trump either. Its against all on the Right. The Republicans and anything they represent. There is no compromising. So they shouldn't expect any. There is no mutual ground. So they can save any lies they have.

Its time that the Democrats follow the Whigs into History. What say ye?

And the good thing is I didn't have to use Tim Ryan, Robert Reich, nor a host of leftists out there telling it like it is about the Demos.

Its time for the Liberals to find those that represent them and force the Progressives to come up with their own Party. Of course both should write off the illiberals completely.

sanders is not a corporate democrat, as long as republicans have the 'neocon' corporate republicans in their party, there will always be a place for their friends on the democratic side to give the illusion of choice to the people.

if republicans are not able to prevent a future economic downturn from the greed of the rich, which is unlikely to happen since that is a natural cycle of American history, democrats will get their turn again later on.

since the last correction was so steep, the democrats may have to wait awhile before they regain power in name only for their sheep.
