Saudi Oil Giant CEO says world should abandon the fantasy of living without oil

Somewhere in the pub thread are pictures I have posted over the years of the human powered devices that I have fabricated.

 

The solution is exactly what many countries are doing, and the individuals residing in those countries are driving the change. One change at a time. One person who abandons his car for mass transit at a time. One replaced ICE car with an EV at a time. One pumped water hydro station at a time. One passive solar / thermal mass home at a time. One geothermally cooled home at a time.

 

Don't look at me because I did my part. Up until my late 30s I rode a bicycle my entire life, an average of 20 miles a day.

It is not practical for people living anywhere but cities to abandon their car in favor of mass transit. It just totally isn't practical

 

Plenty of other ways, especially around the home.

 

When you live 10 miles or so out in the county there are no buses that run out there.

 

As I’ve often said, there seems to be an inverse correlation between passion for things like EVs and actual knowledge of the object of that passion.

Just an observation….

 

The Saudi CEO is speaking to the millions and millions of world-wide people who want to internally justify non-action regarding climate change. I'm not being critical of the decisions that people make. Everybody's situation is different. However, I hope that many take his comments as a challenge to a call for action.

 

Sure. I’m just hoping “taking action” is based on reality. I think misrepresenting EVs is actually counterproductive long term.

Yes I live about 20 miles from the nearest store. No buses either. I have 5.2 KWatts of Wind and Solar It powers not just the electricity for our home, but also much of the electric for our PHEV, We pay about $5-$10 for gasoline a month.

 

And what was your upfront cost of said vehicle?

I doubt it is accessible too people on the more modest bank account side of things

 

I bought it new in 2018, with a discount for hail damage. It was around $32K.
