Uhn, and I thought only Trump was dumb enough to not understand what free speech meant. So once again, free speech is the guarantee that government will not punish you for what you are saying. There is absolutely no guarantee that you can say what you want with no retribution by a private entity.
Case in point, I just implied that you were dumb. Political Forum moderators would be well within their 'purview' and consider it in thier 'best interest' to not allow insults on their boards. I think my post does not fit the standard of insulting, but should PF moderators decide to delete the post, that is well within their rights and NO I have not had my first ammendment right trampled upon should that happen. This does not violate the 'premise' of free speech and certainly not the 'principle' (i love it how when people are discussing legal matters they use vocabulary that they consider legalistic)

    donald Trump on twitter.
Do you guys not get sick and tired of Trump treating you like idiots. Government reprisal is exactly what the 1st ammendment is designed to protect us from. So either Trump is an idiot and he doesn't know that, OR he thinks you are idiots and don't know that. Which is it?

I also love how you imply things not written(that I "used" vocabulary that I considered legalistic). No, I'm a philosopher and principle first and foremost guides philosophy, it's how I left a party that says one thing, does something else and then something other than that the next day.(AKA: The Democratic Party, AKA Liberals.)

While there is no guarantee there isn't "retribution" by a private entity, the idea that individuals within the US cannot be bound to respect the first amendment, but the government must is hypocritical. What binds the government, equally binds the people. If we can't murder, the government cannot order systematic executions of anybody(aka: The holocaust.).

A case in point indeed would be forum rules, if you ban one person for saying 'X', it is expected that you should ban all people for saying 'x'. If you only ban individual y for saying 'x', then that is indeed discriminatory.

In your case, it would be discriminatory if other posts calling people 'dumb' weren't censored, but yours was. Don't worry though, I'm not particularly insulted because I don't think you're capable of calling me dumb.

Only time will tell. I am proud of President Trump for trying to stop Leftist Totalitarian control of Social Media. I hope he succeeds, but I am making no predictions.

Maybe a better solution would be Federal grant to Minds or Bitchute.I

I personally support any approach. I also support prosecuting Leftist Totalitarians in Nations without First Amendment.

The Empire ... um ... Twitter strikes back would say. or in other words, Twitter can no longer simply be used as a platform for spreading lies, fake news, unsubstantiated claims and the self-expression of the worst US president in American history.

And Trump's reaction says everything about this bad person, because Twitter is no longer his private platform for court reporting for Her Majesty Donald I and Twitter is simply taking it's legal right to fight fake news ... and wasn't it Trump himself who wanted to fight fake news this way, eh? Well ... as the saying goes: Anyone sitting in a glass house shouldn't throw stones at others outside.
Fighting fake news does notmean to fight fake news I don't like or which I rate as fake news ... it means all fake news!
Such a neutral link is totally OK and a great idea, because everyone is now free to check out if believing the content of the tweet or the counter facts.

On the other hand, as usual, Trump's fan base doesn't care about facts. As always, they believe their leader in anything and everything without turning their brains on themselves ... and even if Trump claims the math is wrong and 1 + 1 is 11 and not 2, they believe Trump, ignore this thing or try it's nice to talk and justify why Trump claims it and everything is not bad ... or try to distract from the topic.

Conclusion: It is time to do bright blue hats with the white inscription "Make America Great Again" or MAGA for short ... because Twitter is really making America great again with this legitimate and legally legal link to fact check!

No one said regulate what they say it's real f'ing simple, they should be able to be held liable if they do something to be liable for. I'm shocked how you lefties want these mega businesses to have know regulation.

Yeah, and no. There's a valid argument that these social media platforms have become the town square. I buy that argument with some reservation / limits.

As the public space it's become, all speech voiced from the square needs to be protected, unedited or quieted.

    Cheers

Hmm.. you sound certain. The awesome sauce here is, Twitter has transcended content delivery, and has entered into curated, nay even editorialized publishing. This should be interesting.

If Trump and his followers want to crawl into their own shell that is fine by me :)

Twitter was here before Trump's tweets and will be here after.

It doesn't matter what Twitter is, it still controls its content. So, if it is a publisher, it is under no obligation whatsoever to publish one word that the liar trump wants to yap about. If it is a social media platform it can ban liar trump from it because of violation of its rules. And since it would ban anyone else for what he does it should tell him in plain language to go ____ himself.

That was, indeed, a sh!tshow. People jumped on the bandwagon before all information was available. But in the context of this thread and discussion, no fact checking could have been done when those tweets were posted. No one knew the real story.

As you have said you could go all day, could you provide me with a Dem tweet that could have been fact checked and proven wrong, real time?
