Speaking at an NRA event in 2012, Joni Ernst sounded less like someone who'd be a Republican nominee for U.S. Senate two years later than like someone about to move to a militia compound in the hills: I have a beautiful little Smith & Wesson, 9 millimeter, and it goes with me virtually everywhere, Ernst said at the NRA and Iowa Firearms Coalition Second Amendment Rally in Searsboro, Iowa. But I do believe in the right to carry, and I believe in the right to defend myself and my family -- whether its from an intruder, or whether its from the government, should they decide that my rights are no longer important. Yeah, I don't think that little 9 millimeter is going to do you a whole lot of good against the government, however beautiful it may be. The government has somewhat larger guns, see. And a member of your family is more likely to be shot by that gun than defended against an intruder by the gun, FYI. Fight for the freedoms Joni Ernst won't by chipping in $3 to elect strong Democratic women up and down the ballot. Defeat Mitch McConnell in just two hours. Sign up to make GOTV calls to Democrats. In theory, running for office is a healthier way to address that fear that one's rights will be taken. But this is Joni Ernst we're talking about. It's not altogether comforting to have someone running for Senate because they see the alternative as going down in a hail of bullets should the government decide to strengthen background checks for gun buyers, while at the same time opposing little things like women's reproductive rights and the federal minimum wage. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/...Smith-Wesson-to-defend-against-the-government
Does Joni Ernst really "believe" her pathetic little Pea Shooter is gonna keep the big bad evil GUBBERMENT at bay? Her Nine Millimeter wouldn't even hold of a Small Town Police force much less the Feds or the Military But as long as the gullible fools "grovel"
How do people even defend a Federal minimum wage? Surely that's internal policy that should be reserved to more representative bodies than the central government? Why can't California have their $17.50 an hour minimum wage, and Texas have none? Because some don't want policy for themselves - they want it for others, whether those people want it or not.
well the MINNIMUN WAGE was ESTABLISHED because some supposed FREEDOMISTS think that SLAVERY was OKAY and our MODERN Minnimum wage is NOT "far" removed from Southern Plantaitons at CURRENT RATE
1. Employment contracts are voluntary (except insofar they are plagued with legislative requirements). 2. That doesn't explain why you want a Federal minimum wage. Why do you need areas thousands of kilometers away to conform to your preferences even if the people there do not?
Ernst takes 7-point lead Suck it up libs. You all seem to be in denial of what a determined citizenry could do against a military such as we did to defend this country. If you don't think peons with guns can defend themselves, then go over to Afghanistan with all our might and see how long you last since most of the deaths in Afghanistan have been under Obama's mighty military.
"...whether its from a government, should they decide that my rights are no longer important. Doesn't say the federal government, it could be a foreign government, or a tyrannical government should one take over, like a socialist dictator. Why does the left have to misquote and lie to make score political points? http://video.foxnews.com/v/38660849...politics-in-midterms/#sp=show-clips/all-shows
Joni was correct, and her Second Amendment comments were taken out of context. Again, the silly libs are scared of a pretty, conservative, constitutional woman! By the way, they should join the NRA and learn FACTS how gun ownership prevents deaths and murders.
As of Oct 30 the Democrats have a 6,829 ballot lead over Republicans out of 391,772 votes which equates to a +1.7 point lead. In comparison 2010, Democrats had a +5.7 point lead and in 2012 they had a +9.9 point lead in early voting. In 2012 Obama won by +5.8. With the polls showing the race neck in neck I would expect that Ernst will win by a very narrow margin. Expect a recount on this one and perhaps a few boxes of votes "found" in car trunks by Democratic operatives oh and the S&W is a sweet little pistol, even better with a Apex trigger job
