Lol, god is outside or time in Christian theology so to god, there is only now. But you can make up whatever you want, the rest is all in your mind too.

Not I. You have a book which tells you everything and you believe it no matter what. I live in a Universe that is a complete mystery, and one more vast every time we find out anything about it. Did you know that the vast majority of existence is completely unknown to us? That armies of people and creatures we shall never know might even now be right next to you? It sounds like the wildest fantasy yet dark matter is an undeniable fact which composes much more of the Universe than our paltry stars and galaxies. And that is just one of the enigmas and conundrums that presents itself to us. I don't have anything figured out and never will, and I don't intend to spend most of my time and effort to delude myself into thinking I do.

    Oh dear, looks like snow.

So you bring forth your personal beliefs about people on welfare on a thread about a religious person getting dead because of their religion, and that is apparently fine. I respond in kind about religious people - the topic of the thread - and I'm supposed to keep it to myself. Oh dear. Struggling with basic logic I see.

Simple lesson: don't start what you cant finish snowflake. Now, off to your safe space with your invisible friend. It can hold your hand and tell you the nasty man will go to hell....or whatever.

He was thinking profoundly arrogant thoughts about his own superiority, that's what. Disgusting human being.

He wasn't trying to 'save' them. He was pissed off that they remained beyond his reach, and vainly called it compassion. These dangerous ideologues can't tolerate not getting their hands on clean innocence.

Alternatively, his own hubris, arrogance, and (wilful) ignorance served him up the perfect response. I would even submit that his demise is about as good evidence of God as we're likely to get.

    You make an interesting point.
These missionary types tend to be convinced that they are doing something special and meaningful for people who do not want anything to do w/ them or their dogma.
There is little or nothing that can make them listen to reason.

He just pointed out that he has nothing figured out. NO ONE has, with 30,000 years worth of religion.

It's a very thin veneer of 'compassion'. It's really about control and brownie points.

This is an extreme example of why I react with great negativity and outrage to idiots that knock at my door wanting to speak at me about their religion. It is deeply offensive and self centered to think you have a right to push your religion upon another person. Your religion is none of my damned business and I've every desire to be ignorant of whatever horsecrap you are peddling.

Hate to read of a young man dying so stupidly, and it certainly was stupidity at work. Deluded and un-reasoning, he knowingly walked into suicide by caveman by thinking his bigger and better caveman belief would see him thru. Even after taking an arrow in his bible, he kept at it.

Well, it saw him thru alright. Thru with arrows and into a shallow pit on a beach.

I hate to say it but I've little sympathy for the parents either. Yeah I know they are grieving. Problem is they are babbling the same insipid crapola as their needlessly deadified son.

There is nothing wrong with being a person of faith, of having religious belief and practice. Just do not be an ass about it, and the world will get along fine with you..

Case in point, one dead bible thumper off the coast of India.

Sounds like he's (was ) a real dolt...….pathetic when a person like him can't just mind his own business and stay away from those who don't want him around.

    What an egotistical jerk...

Don't preach your moral crap about my need to give my money to others when you've objected to someone preaching their morality

Last time I checked this was a tread about a religious fanatic who got himself killed because he was too stupid to do what any person not afflicted by his fanaticism would do - walk away. Quite how you managed to turn that into me preaching that you need to give money to someone will likely remain one of the mysteries of the universe. Was I preaching that you give it to the islanders or the missionary? Not sure either have much use for it, but then I'm not the one making up the story here.

Anyway, thanks for providing a stellar example of that the magical thinking religion forces on people can produce - a tendency to completely make stuff up and then treat it as truth.
