I've heard several commentators raddle off list of similar penalties against men. She had to turn to an "ism" because she was making an arse out of herself.
And now from Australia Australian newspaper prints racist cartoon about Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka Editorial cartoonist Mark Knight of the Australian newspaper the Herald Sun was so proud of his Serena Williams-U.S. Open cartoon, which was published in the newspaper, that he posted it on his Twitter account early Monday morning. If you’re wondering why he was proud, you’re not alone. He depicts Serena Williams, one of the greatest athletes of all time, as a racist stereotype, with a huge nose and big lips. She’s drawn like a Hulk baby, her strength and power twisted into infantile ugliness as she stomps on her racquet with a pacifier on the ground.............. https://sports.yahoo.com/australian...on-serena-williams-naomi-osaka-153447048.html It's a charactaure, a CARTOON, the features are SUPPOSED to be exaggerated. Looks like a pretty accurate depiction of Serena’s physical characteristics as well as her inappropriate behavior.......
There was a female player who changed shirts during the match and was called for it. However she wasn't at the bench, I believe she was near the service line. Men change shirts all the time but usually at the bench. I'm not 100% sure what the rules are there. She had a sports bra on so it wasn't like she flashed the crowd.
A code violation for screaming at and berating the chair umpire, for doing his job, would normally just rate a warning. It was Williams' other two infractions, coaching and racquet abuse, that triggered the point penalty on the third offense. She's played long enough to realize she was walking on the edge and she's the source of her own problems. A childish tirade at the US Open finals with all the world watching, in which the official was called a "thief", a "liar" and someone who who penalized her for being female. She demanded an apology from Ramos. The idea that a male player could attack the personal character of the chair umpire at it's biggest moment and venue with no repercussions is just absurd and completely unproven. But it suits Serena Williams and Billie Jean King to say they are victims anyway. John McEnroe has been disqualified for verbally assaulting an official, among other things, at the Australian Open so maybe you should rethink things.
Yes. Alize Cornet. Men change wet shirts during changeovers and Cornet could have done the same and even gotten someone to cover her a bit with a towel if necessary. Not sure that's sexist.
Why would she need to be covered? She was wearing a sports bra. It's not like she was wearing lingerie. They call it a sports bra for a reason...
A bra is a form of underwear. Would you allow Rafael Nadal or John Isner to walk around the show courts in their underwear? If so, in what other sport would you allow players to appear in their underwear? Please be specific.
You're partially correct, but a bra doesn't cover a gentile like boxer shorts do. A bra just covers boobs. And her boobs were covered by a sports bra, which is wider and tighter than a normal bra. Hell women run in sports bras at the beach.
Not professional tennis. Not by a long shot. No more than this would be appropriate wear for a wrestling match.
if a man takes off his shirt to change in a tennis match at the bench (which happens all the time as you know), and a woman does too, what's the problem? The man would be showing his nipples, and yet the woman would be covering hers with a bra. Neither showing any gentiles. If anything, the women would be showing more coverage than the men.
A sports bra is still a bra. Are you aware of that? Do you have a wife, daughters, granddaughters? Do you play tennis with women? A friend's wife? His daughters? Tennis partners? Not a one of them in my experience would play tennis exposing their sports bras as a normal course of things. This isn't rocket science.
Refer to post 67. You allow men to change shirts in a match. They take off their shirt and expose their nipples. A woman changes a shirt, and exposes nothing because she has a SECONDARY item of clothing holding her nipples back. And that upsets you? The women are taking more precaution than the men in regards to showing off their bodies! I'm not even a feminist! lol
I never said I had a problem with what Cornet did though she should have tried to be a bit more circumspect, in my opinion, given the venue. Is this an issue? I don't see it. Your obsession is not mine.
The only issue is your one-sided view on people changing shirts. A man changes a shirt, he exposes his chest. A woman who is wearing a bra that DOESN'T expose her chest, changes her shirt, and that gets you upset? Your priorities are out of wack
Once again, and for the last time, I'm not upset with what Cornet did but the fact that a sports bra is a form of underwear is not insignificant. Once more, would you like to see Isner and Nadal in their underwear after changing their sweaty shorts? Once you admit players should not be in their underwear on court everything should be okay. Cornet can change her top if necessary during change overs. End of issue.
Edit: Sorry I don't know what happened to my last post. If a man or woman is changing clothes that could expose an area of gentiles (the bottom portion of the body), then we have a problem. Changing shirts for a man or woman is not a big deal. It has happened, and will always happen.
