Over the past many months, I worked on the site regularly, but unfortunately had little success. Staff and I were both extremely frustrated by this. Late Friday night to early Saturday, we had 5 hours of planned downtime, and PF was moved to a better server. I did not want to post about the plans until some clear improvement was achieved. Our site has been stable since then, with zero database-related errors. I see no other performance errors. In addition to the upgrade, some other performance tweaks were made. Speed is significantly improved overall, with occasional acceptable small lags (usually just 2-3 seconds). Some site features have been added back already. I would like to do additional small tweaks/upgrades, and add features, when we can afford them. Thanks for sticking with PF through the problems. And to those who didn't, we hope they come post again. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it!
Yes, thank you... ... it does seem to be running better... ... and haven't gotten any server errors yet... ... Granny says don't forget to defrag daily... ... or at least weekly.
"Today's Posts" at the top of the page gives you all the latest posts since yesterday. Hope that helps..... JP5
I am having an impossible time on some threads...When I log in, the 'welcome' info at the top of the page is fine but, on some threads, when I try to post anything, it says I am not logged in and then refuses to let me post..On other threads, no problem. Very annoying...
Another issue...I have to refresh the page every time I go to it...by that I mean, I post or read a page of a thread. Once done I hit the forum button, say 'political opinions', which should return me to the up to the minute list of threads on that forum. It doesn't. I go to the first list of threads for the forum I had visited that day. If I then hit refresh, the thread list updates. I had a similar problem on this forum. Earlier today I had added a comment to this thread. When I returned to it an hour later my post did not display. I had to refresh the screen to get the post....
Sorry you are having 2 major problems. If you have another browser, you may want to try using it, just to see if the problems resolve. Even better if you can try another computer. I have not heard of these problems before. For the reloading problem, you can also try clearing your browser's cache. Login problems are often related to cookies, and you can try clearing your politicalforum.com cookies.
