The Super Bowl athletes and Lady Gaga are the best our culture has to offer in terms of sports and popular music. The game itself was a lesson in excellence, endurance and perseverance. Lady Gaga was patriotic (get it?) throughout her show, and thankfully she performed Telephone, the lyrics of which are laughably banal, but the music of which is utterly original. "Don't call me, don't call me ..." It's just delicious. She's from New York. Inevitably. What is it about that city?
I agree about the Patriots. While I do like some of Lady Gaga's songs, I do also think some of them are a little too weird for my taste. I like the song "Million Reasons." One of her less odd numbers.
