they may not have a choice, the only veto to nuclear weapons use in the region is Russia who is not an ally of iran. since Trump is good friends with Russia, they may work something out to avoid any escalation of conflicts.
There is a nice little book available in German... "The Eleventh Commandment: Israel is allowed to do anything it wants." Clear-text about antisemitism and Israel critic. Written by a Jewish lady, Evelyn Hecht-Galinsky, who's father spent time in Auschwitz and other Concentration Camps, but was one of the lucky ones who survived. I mean to show that there are also normal, clear-thinking Jews in the world!
Indeed. That is why everybody who is somebody is in Israel today, honoring the memory of the last of Israel founding fathers. Even Abbas. And US flags are flying at half staff. For once, Obama dome something right. RIP, hero.
70 delegations from around the world are attending the funeral, yet some fat brains are still finding some childish resistance to their participation. (The Oslo Accord apparently is not enough and has not done enough to persuade these gents to follow the Peace agreement or Oslo Accord. The refusal of Israel’s Arab lawmakers, therefore, was upsetting to Peres’ son-in-law and physician, Dr. Rafi Walden. “I am surprised and disappointed by them,” he told Channel 2 News. “There was a famous saying of [late Israeli diplomat] Abba Eban that the Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. This time, the Arabs of Israel, unfortunately, are missing an unprecedented opportunity to express their appreciation for a man who did more than any other person in Israel to bring peace and love between Jews and Arabs, both within Israel and between Israel and its neighbors, and it’s a real shame.” Furthermore, Walden said, the Arab MKs refusing to attend Peres’ funeral are “causing hostility,” instead of taking the “opportunity to express their solidarity with that segment of Israeli society that extends its hand to them” in peace.
WTF... I am only wondering, if Germany and Holland, both friends of Israel, are also flying their flags at half mast.
Mister Bendor, don't you have any sense of the pain and suffering the Palestinians are subjected to on a daily basis? You stole their land by brutal force, you killed their children and you have 7000 of them locked up in miserable jails where they get tortured and mishandled. Now Peres' son-in-law accuses them of "causing hostility"!! Why not accuse them of antisemitism as well, the standard label for anyone who doesn't agree with you? May I ask, would you have attended Hitler's funeral to express your "appreciation", if you were in that position?
Exactly! That is also how the Palestinians feel... Hundreds of people in the impoverished and Israeli-blockaded Gaza Strip have staged a demonstration against the Israeli regime and to protest the participation of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the funeral of former Israeli president Shimon Peres. They also sprayed Israel's flag on the street with the Arabic sentence, Death to Israel. We are against the participation of Palestine's delegation in the funeral of Peres, because Peres was a killer of Gaza's children and he made a lot of wars and massacres against our children and our people in the Gaza Strip, said a protester, identified as Abu Moumen. http://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2016/0...est-Mahmoud-Abbas-participation-Peres-funeral -------------------- Abu Moumen will now be on the IDF hitlist, I'm sure. To be fair, Peres shouldn't be singled out... he is not the only Israeli leader who massacred Palestinians.
And it's not just the Palestinians who feel this way, but pretty much everyone who has ever looked at this man's record and the suffering he caused so many innocent people, most of all the children of that region. I have been confused by some of things I see supported on this board, but this guy, Jazz?
Sorry, that was confusing. I was only saying that it isn't just the Palestinians that know this guy is a psychopath and war criminal.
Wonder if this 2003 quote by Israeli military historian Martin van Creveld is still Israeli doctrine today? "We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets for our air force. Let me quote General Moshe Dayan: 'Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother.' I consider it all hopeless at this point. We shall have to try to prevent things from coming to that, if at all possible. Our armed forces, however, are not the thirtieth strongest in the world, but rather the second or third. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen before Israel goes under" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samson_Option PS- if he's talking about hitting muslim countries that's understandable, but I can't understand why he talks about "taking the world down", what's Israel's beef with the rest of us?
Nuclear weapons were probably the smartest thing the Israelis ever did to ensure their long term survival.
No question! It is a surefire deterrent. But... it also emboldens them to ruthlessly subjugate the Palestinians and threaten, even attack, their neighbors. Nobody dares to challenge them, not even the UN... one resolution after another gets tossed into the wastebasket. It is very worrisome where this loose canon might end!
In a brief phone call she placed Thursday to 1,000 or so Jewish machers, she wished everyone a shana tova and spoke personally about her friend, the late President Shimon Peres. When he spoke, to me it was like listening to a psalm, and I loved sitting and listening to him whether it was about Israel, the nation he loved and did so much to defend, or about peace or just about life itself, recalled Clinton, adding that her husband Bill Clinton is in Israel to attend the funeral and represent them both.... https://theuglytruth.wordpress.com/...second-jewish-president-of-the-united-states/ This women is bat(*)(*)(*)(*) crazy.
The hipocracy of people here is amazing. The worse of what they attribute for Peres in 93 years of his like is an everyday reality in Syria today. Yet they cmore here to bash the dead man and support the guys who do that every day. If you hate him so much, it must be he's done tons of good in his life.
