    why?
    you need to express yourself…

is it just something like you had feelings to do stuff with your mum and it frightened you..
or maybe your brother and like if you are a guy it made you feel funny.

Dear old dad hugging you got you excited and frightened…

surely there is a reason you are on the internet talking about your fears of incest.

says who to all of the above…

these fears you post are driven from sort of secret feelings you keep hidden…

why post in an incest thread if it does't mean it has had some sort of deep rooted fixation for you at one time.

look you can let it all out here…

    I've done things to poultry.

here we go again making leaps into the fodder of ignorance and fears.

why are you posting in this thread of incest and talking about pedophiles…
    what are you hiding.

    aha!!!

    i never mentioned rape.

You see i am a doctor of psychology.

I never really cared for anything but.

it is easy to have people say what you need to know of them by prodding in other areas that are not about them.
there is a tactic few know as portrayed in Hannibal.

    So it's about rape ?

no its not about rape, i was using that as an example of your absurdness.

what im saying is,according to your jacked up theory, that i believe some thing are wrong morally because i have committed those crimes. Well mr.psychology i have never committed murder nor wanted too, but i think its wrong anyways lol. so how in the hell can you tell someone they only believe something is wrong because they either have or wanted to commit such crimes or even sexual encounters?

the fact that we have anonymous adoptions means a certain percent are bound to be incest even if people do not know it

Think of the children, though. It's their offspring who will suffer.

Could suffer is what you mean I am sure. Lets not forget there is no law that stops a couple from procreating when they have a known genetic defect that will for sure be transferred to offspring. If there is a 30% chance of a child being born to a couple having some form of disability, should it be illegal for them to procreate?

I think human society has done well to ban it where ever it's actually been banned. It's not healthy. Seems most people realise this readily enough, too.

We need the genetic shuffling afforded by sexual reproduction outside of our respective families.

The real reason it is banned is because of social convention not genetic deviance. It is the ick factor, but frankly unless we are going to start genetically restricting couples based upon family historical medical condition we really do not need these laws on the books.

Meh. I've heard that people are naturally not attracted to their siblings in that way. It's a natural mechanism for avoiding incest, and I think we are wise to take nature's advice here.

You start producing kids with your siblings, you will produce messed up offspring. If not in the first generation, then a bit farther along. Viable populations need greater genetic variety than that to be healthy.

Perhaps but in a free society what gives us the right to choose who consenting adults procreate with? Agian if the above is the case why do we not restrict those people with genetic aberrations that harm the child?

Why not? And please, no insults or just "if don't know you never will" type of thing. They just admit that you don't have any point. The whole idea of America being, supposedly, a FREE country is not that we let anyone do anything, it's the principle that we have good REASONS for restricting freedom, it's not just an arbitrary thing.

To put it another way, if a man wants to live with two women, and the women agree, what business is it of yours?

I would only be concerned with contract law and taxes. Tax breaks should only be allowed between two individuals. Otherwise if its a private arrangement it is none of the states affair. But lets stay on topic, family stupping family

I suppose just the expected outcome of the act.. Most people aren't that responsible about parenting and mate selection, so even if your proposed genetic analysis could spot definitive reasons for relatives not to procreate together, it's safe to assume that it wouldn't be used in every case anyway.

I'm just glad, though, that most people have the good sense not to make babies with their relatives.

I have to agree that it's hard to justify from a free society standpoint. That's why I always point to the children they would produce - I see banning incest as protecting the next generation.

All of these make life difficult for the child and all would cease if those that have these conditions in their families would stop procreating. Would not banning these people from having children be the best option? If not they why since the harm of these genetic defects will cause out ways the possible harm that inbreeding may cause?

Wth... incest, gay marriage, abortion, drugs, prostitution... why stop there? Why not pedophilia, bestiality or rape? Hell, we could decriminalize murder, too. Then we wouldn't have as many criminals and our prisons would clear out. Weeee!

America is turning into a perverted anarchist's wet dream.

    - - - Updated - - -

Incest causes genetic disorders, merely due to incest. There's a difference.

pedophilia and rape have victims (bestiality depends on what kind of rights you think animals should have) Civil freedoms should not be abridged by government unless those freedoms take away from others freedoms.

Procreating when you have a known genetic disorder that transfer on causes the same. Explain the difference please because I cannot see it.

When it comes to these hereditary conditions, there is always a certain chance that they will be expressed, that's true enough. Life is a gamble.. Until we are able to take full control over our own genome and 'fix' such 'problems' as these in the parents, every generation does run a risk if inheriting something nasty. In fact, I expect we all do in fact inherit problematic genes to some extent. I have near-sightedness, for instance. I would love it if it could have been patched up genetically before I was born or even conceived, but those are the breaks..

All the same, though, incest significantly increases the chances of hereditary problems in offspring, and so is best avoided for humanitarian reasons at least.
