really? then how do you explain the new york gun control law now before the u.s. supreme court, to see if it violates the 2nd amendment? that is where most state tried gun control laws wind up. in the u.s. federal supreme court. : Supreme Court expected to rule soon on New York gun law (yahoo.com) :)

You clearly do not understand what under discussion here.
The 2nd does not grant power to the states of the federal government - it -limits- that power.

Nothing in this clause grants -any- power to the federal to dictate arms ownership over the states.
Why do you believe otherwise? you clearly didn't read my post above. my quote: really? then how do you explain the new york gun control law now before the u.s. supreme court, to see if it violates the 2nd amendment? that is where most state tried gun control laws wind up. in the u.s. federal supreme court. the u.s. supreme court. ---is--- part of the federal government. it is one of the branches of that government. so that branch of the federal government decides what laws the states can pass & put into law. that (dictates) by the federal government the laws that any state can use/pass/make a law on who can buy/own/carry a firearm. the states don't have that right to make such laws unless they are (subordinate) to the constitution.

question: did you study the constitution when you were in school? :)
