While I am not saying you don't have to be in good shape or have the necessary skills, all to often the match ups seem to be rigged if not outright fixed for who is going to win. This latest spectacle with Rourke is only the most recent one. Everyone knows about the Tyson fights and the triumphant return of George Foreman who by all accounts were not in good enough shape but they seem to win anyways. Then later on we find out that it was rigged. Should boxing be relegated to the same category as professional wrestling where clearly its just entertainment and at least you know that it is rigged. Why does boxing even bother to keep up with the pretense of even being competitive anymore? No one actually believes them do they?

I should emphasize that I am mostly talking about professional boxing not amateur boxing where I am sure they still fight like crazy to climb the proverbial boxing ladder.

    Who cares, really?

It's the same thing with any kind of sport, isn't it? In the end you really can't tell who will win, and if you could, the sport wouldn't be any fun to watch. That does make them difficult to bet on but that's not really supposed to be easy anyway. Who's rigging what is just one more factor to deal with. The only sure thing in any kind of gambling is that the House always wins.
