:oldman: This current languor, of little police action against the Trump Mob M.A.G.A. bozoes, is such a thorn ... then why not land a BULLSEYE on him! 'By expeditiously prosecuting Trump for criminally commandeering The Official Seal Of The U.S. Presidency -- hey and that's so impeccably documented, at that big golf function with the Saudis a short time ago. Using that for some private commercial enterprise is of course strictly a felony and he had that emblem plastered everywhere at that place -- totally well-documented.

Ahhh, more folks controlled by Trump. I love it! I think at this point Trump has a bigger grip on the left then the right!
    GOOD STUFF

Depends on what the penalty is. Resource and efforts are being used to prosecute things that will land him in prison for the rest of his life. Anything with a maximum sentence of less than 5 years can wait for later. We need to make sure the criminal never sees the light of day again.

Though I respect you, I find fault with your answer. It ought be about merely piercing his armor (image) fatally, pinning him as a guy who needs pay for his temerity. Trump goes to no prison, you! He is afforded luxurious protections six ways from Sunday 'til the day he croaks!

I read your desperation: the legacy of a US President is of no consequence and ought never again to be spoken of, except in the affirming sense, regardless of what ills he injects into the World. Yes, I read it.

@Golem put him in jail on the simplest charge just to shut him up while the larger cases are being lined up.

trump's incessant whining and "monday morning quarterbacking" are a distraction for the adults who must clean up this unhousebroken troll's mess.

We would be reminded of Pablo Escobar, who built his own luxury prison. If we want to become Colombia of the time when the drug lord was in charge, then that's what we would see. If democrats allow that, it will be up to the people to not allow it. But we do know it will the minute Republicans take the presidency.

The DOJ very likely has a plan. At least I hope they do. One that takes into account the political implications. Maybe TOO much, but there are many things to consider. Averting talking points like "they accused him of ... insurrection (for example) and all they could prove was that he displayed the presidential seal!". That's why I said it depends on the penalty. If they start with something like this, it will be his first criminal conviction, and he's likely to get the lightest penalty... A fine would not accomplish that goal.

You can purchase presidential seals on e-bay. Should we lock up everyone who buys them and displays them?

Read the precise code. I do not have a copy. I think Trump can be made to account based on the specific circumstances of how he abused the emblem. It would be interesting to learn his defense strategy if charged. Would he stupidly rant about him being the actual president-elect, because "the 2020 election was rigged"? 'Sounds like a romp I dunno

See! The indignation over DJT's many many transgression is going nowhere fast -- just a lot of piddling around. So I repeat my great idea that all the bruhaha should boil down to a bullseye shot and DOJ should seek an indictment against Trump for one single count of high treason, of which many deem that he is dead guilty. Sure, it will end in a hung jury, but it would still be the high drama type of accountability that so many ordinary highly-decent persons desperately crave.

Great answer! Hey, so sure, do something that satisfies everyone. So long as DJT's disgrace is made into a grand spectacle (i.e. in a fully public court), I believe I speak for all libs in asserting: that would suffice!

[edit: my remark about treason may have gone into an errant thread by my mistake, but it still glows bright]

The thing is, what sentence could he possibly get? How many years (hopefully LIFE), but even more importantly, where?

Something tells me that if he were convicted, the reality would be he would be sentenced to Mar Lago, maybe confiscation of his golf cart will drive the point home...who knows? The point is that for some time, some of his followers will continue to be a threat.

My personal preference for the Orange Coconut would be to have him exiled, and since during his presidency he showed an interest in Greenland, I think we have a military base up there that could accommodate him.

I think a 20 or 30 year sentence should cover that.

Those are reasonable assumptions. I would hope he does real jail time. But sadly, we should be aware that this is a possibility. Though, with all his pending civil trials, not sure there will be a Mar-a-Lago for long. At least not one owned by the Trump family.

Yes. Even though Guantanamo would be more appropriate.

Since 'round-the-clock secret service protection is promised to all ex-presidents, punishment is not the issue and you can't ever incarcerate DJT. In a like vein I don't think that conviction is even critical. So I think that something symbolic would serve best and I think that would be making a good solid case in open court that he is guilty of treason. Of course conviction would be helpful if it meant disqualifying him from ever serving in office again. What a stinking fiasco!!

He connived to take by force - and so steal - that which was not rightfully his, to wit 4 more years of the Presidency. He involved hundreds of other coconspirators in that quest and so made them complicit but with the promise of blanket pardons regardless of outcome. He dangles the promise of blanket pardons to his minions to this day in the ongoing rebellion against democratic due process. That behavior just can not go unpunished. But I'm pretty sure that even though tens of millions of his faithful servants have been effectively brainwashed, blinded and manipulated, they are still not completely stupid. And so when 2024 election happens, with a few good incisive Democratic ads aired on TV, no way will America vote Trump back in to power. If Trump is the Republican candidate then the Democrat, whoever that be, would win.

No. I want to see him freeze his ass off. Not to mention, we're gonna need to close Gitmo within the next couple of years. We really do.
