was watching a youtube tonight and was wondering

we often give people zanax or other calming drugs to help them relax\sleep after a tragic event

should we maybe be giving them something to prevent them from sleeping, like an amphetamine

my reason for thinking this is memories are moved to permanent memory during sleep, not sleeping can make it harder to remember what you learned that day

thus, by not sleeping for an extended time after a ptsd type event, you may actually weaken that memory, which would be a good thing in this case

this could help members of our military when they encounter these PTSD type events

anyways just an idea throwing out there

This was the video I watched

Sounds logical to me but that doesn't mean much.
