I was caught because the enrollment periods for healthcare plans ended in mid Dec and my pay raise came on Jan 1st.

I am a firm believer in single payer healthcare because the govt is already paying enough to run the healthcare system on it's own.
The additional money from private premiums is mostly absorbed in the additional cost of dividing up every little chargeable item.

Along with single payer (not compulsory, if you can find a private hospital Etc. then do it) I would advocate universal coverage.

One reason the US loses money in the Current Account is production has been moved overseas due to the high cost of
workers here in the US, because of the very high cost of benefits.

Basically we have priced ourselves out of most of manufacturing.

Some workers in Michigan offered to work for five dollars an hour, but were rejected because the benefits were too expensive.

Benefits are a lot less expensive in Mexico, and come to that, pretty much everywhere in the World.

It seems the children can go either way, lacking a stable social environment if not adequately socialized they can be out of control noisy or sit there timid and afraid in silence.

Well done, both for you and whoever had a part in raising you and perhaps the whole town. That's good.

Writing post 53 I've realized I was somewhat anti social and overly talkative, but repressed a lot too
so I tried hard to fit in, so not so obviously inadequately socialized in public; I was bad with a room mate and often bad in marriage.

I moved a lot as a child because my dad was argumentative at work,
um, I was the same, it took years to learn to get along particularly at work.

On top of it I had PTSD and couldn't concentrate, though it cleared up in several stages, finally 3 years ago.

If we didn't go to war we wouldn't be such a violent society and have so much PTSD, but then
there were gains made in war we would have missed out on, not so easy gains anymore

I know a lot of people who simply couldn't do what you did, some due to PTSD, some are too argumentative,
one is too stupid, and a few don't believe it is possible to learn (that's just the way I am).

    Well done.

I have awesome parents. They started with nothing and live pretty well after 59 years of marriage. Nobody worked harder than my dad running his own construction company and Mom is loving and tenacious. Mom found opportunities and got the skills to be successful in construction administration for the local school system after doing my dad's books and taxes for decades. Dad didn't want me to have to work construction because he could see the market changing, but he did teach me to work. Mom pushed me to study and my brother and I tutored her through some of her college classes for her BS in Geo Information Services. My brother is about to retire from teaching accounting and business software in high school. I finished my BS while in the military and repair solid state emergency power equipment.

Sure there is no hard and fast rule, but in my experience the most timid and afraid ones were either from abusive homes or super religious ones.

I'm guessing the common element is they are afraid of getting something wrong or saying something wrong, so take avoid that risk by saying as little as possible.

Back where I was in England there was a very religious school and they regularly got nearly all As in exams, 97% to 100% As.
I think their religion worked the opposite way around that they believed if they did the work, fought the good fight, that God would be with them.

2 Tim 4 v7 'I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith'
Rom 8 v31 'What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?'

I live in the American south where there are pockets of very stern Christians--often from churches with Holiness in their names but not exclusively. There are some very old school beliefs like women are not allowed to speak when inside the church, no music allowed, children are not to speak unless spoken to, etc. I knew one kid whose father forced them to spend all day every saturday under his religious instruction at home. People like that are hardly the rule, but they are not that unheard of either in this area. I knew another kid who was very strange in that he literally couldn't have a conversation about anything other than the bible. I mean it was like he had no grasp of any other subject. I often wonder what happened to him---he was destined to either become a theologian or a psycho killer. Not sure which but he took every single thing in the Bible literally. It was kind of sad and scary as hell.

Please, do some really simple research on who earns MW, what percentage of the workforce they are, and how long they only stay at MW. Additional wages for no additional production is part of the cause of inflation.

So Social Security increases makes up for the reduced value of your retirement accounts and savings accounts??? Who knew! (sarcasm included)

    Bold by me.

So expanding the government, to collect taxes, to 'cover' single payer healthcare is going to suddenly make the government efficient? What happens in a situation when the benevolent government decides they don't feel you need a particular procedure or medication? All you need to do is some re4ading on the UK's health system to find the answers.

Yes, the US health CARE and insurance arrangements need an overhaul. Dumping the government into it is NOT going to fix it.

I've done my research, and obviously you haven't, since you as much as said you haven't. You are trying to 'make facts' without whole cloth.

I would argue that Big Government and Bureaucracy is a left wing attribute.

You've got nothing on Fred Astair....

FACTS prove you incorrect. Unless you are advocating for more inflation?

And you have provided nothing that supports your position.

    I have supported my position.
