    Therefore ... furgit 40 acres and a Mule.When 13 acres and a woman's
touch can do just as well.Er better.Depending on what color curtains will be
used and how many shawls are used to cover furniture.
    I wonder if this is how My Favorite Philosopher { Henry David Thoreau }
went about his Walden Pond.Where even the Loons kept their tongue.

" Whoso keepeth *his mouth and tongue keepeth
his soul from trouble. " -- King James Bible

    * no mention of her mouth

I am sure the pace is beautiful especially the poplar floors. I love the look of poplar with the green and different colors in the grain. As a craftsperson I am sure you would appreciate the solid and strong heart pine. I am also getting old brick out. The old stuff that has ragland block in raised letters on the top. Bricks are just stones that are easier to stack. My house needed a lot of work and all this stuff has saved me a small fortune. I just hate waste....especially when i can use it.

Most brick has holes to hold mortar and that makes them hard to salvage. Rock shouldn't be to hard...just heavy

You just demonstrated that you can get a book out of those journals. Do you have any images of the stonework?

Now its time for your project to advance to the next level.

a bear in the woods just finished his 'business' when a rabbit hopped on by, the bear said "hey rabbit, does sh*t stick to your fur?"... the rabbit, looking at the turd embedded in the bear's but fur, laughs and says "nope! gets that's just a bear thing! ha ha ha"... with that the bear scoops up the rabbit and proceeds to wipe his arse with him... sh*t happens...

Heart pine is not only strong and durable its beautiful. You are extremely lucky to be able to find it and reclaim it. We got some reclaimed worm holed chestnut a while back. Its also a beautiful, strong wood. We incorporated some of it into a chest that was made to store blankets and afghans/throws my family has made for me over the years for us. The popular floor we put in has shades of tan, brown, green and a deep burgundy color. The green and deep burgundy color made the decision to use it an easy one. I like the look of those clinker type bricks. They just seem more comfortable to looking at them stacked. Probably because they look rustic and less formal. Once you get your place redone if you continue to reclaim material maybe you can sell it on the side. There is a market for it.

We do have pictures of the phases of the stonework and the finished product. Where they are is a good guess. We have so much stuff here that we had to move from the old house to this house. Plus stuff when my mom passed away we had to move here and my mom loved to collect things. Two rooms here and the cellar can actually qualify us to be on the hoarders show. All we need is some cloths to look disheveled and a few empty liquor bottles strewn on the lawn. We've discussed having tag sales but like I said, You sit there and argue over a dollar. If they lowball an already low price with me Ill tell them its not for sale anymore. Im not sitting in a lawn chair haggling over a buck. Ill donate it or give it away to someone or something that has meaning to me.

Ill look for the pictures. If I find them I will post them.

We once.....dad and me....and a friend. ...cut down some Tulip Poplar and took it to a peckerwood sawmill....run by a 350 chevy motor and had it cut . The friend wanted to build a cattle barn and my dad was buiding a house. We took our share of the lumber and put it under shelter to dry. I used some as a wainscott and used some as chair rail and trim. It looked good.

A need to share.... At home one afternoon during the winter, spouse comes up behind me a takes an audible sniff. He NEVER does that, doesn't like scents or perfumes and such. So I ask over my shoulder what's up, and his response was 'I could have sworn you smelled like Stuffed Shells.'

Subtle hints are NOT his forte.....

Anything that the Salvation Army will take can generate a tax break - usually worth more than what you can get for it with a yard sale.
Max out the deduction every year for a few decades and it will all be gone. ;-)

i've been known to smash the item with a 20lb sledge hammer while they watch... priceless & far more rewarding. i recall this time when i was selling some tools & equipment (all lined up on the driveway) this guy was eyeing up my rototiller but had that look, so i walked over toward him (wielding that sledge) when he asked if the hammer was for sale, of course i said it wasn't, he asked why i was carrying it, my response was "make me an offer on that 'tiller and you'll find out"... i had a euphoric mood all the rest of the day, what was left of the tiller went to the curb...

btw, i've also done that when i receive useless bs gifts, their look of astonishment is unforgettable :D

My first acrylic pour on canvas. I did this yesterday. The colors in this photo don't do it justice. The colors are pretty crisp and distinct although it dried in darker shades. Im going to keep trying until I get a better feel for this.

What creature on earth chews on strawberries. Not even the most
    committed Bulimic would do dat.
There need be a handbook on how to find wild strawberry and
how best to scarf them down.I say,as a kid who spent summers
trying to catch butterflies with me Butterfly net, there is only
one way to consume strawberry.Pick em' fast and eat em'
    even faster.
