I'd not want to do any mechanicing on one (A Lexus). Dont know if all are this way but a mechanic at work showed me pics of one.

What should have been a 4 hour job to replace some 13$ part in the AC system, required almost total disassembly of much of the dash and most everything behind it, including the steering column.

But hey, if you got a good deal, drive it!

IMO, the blue and the green seem to clash a bit.

I take it to Toyota Dealership in CD. Chihuahua (chiwawa to you! LOL ) #1 they can't sell me a new car, so they 'll repair it instead, and #2 before I took it to them, I'd spent over $1000 her locally and DID NOT hae it repaired! $380 dollars in Chihuahua and it was fixed, The things are supposed to get over 400,000 miles of use.

400,ooo miles are reserved for Diesel engines only.
For a gas engine that is near impossible.
Do you have any idea'r what the inside of a gas engine has to put
up with. It's like having 70 virgins as wives and all love to gossip

We visited there a few years back. One of the more memorable things were the skunks walking around. The park wasn't charging the admission fee when we were there. The tarantulas on our trip to the basin were the added attraction. We also visited the Boquillas Hot spring near the Rio Grande and hiked out to Ernst Tinaja.
While we were there we stayed in one of the cabins which was nice.

Anyone remember me telling you how I clean up the property when I first get to work at night before assuming register duty from midnight on? Also anyone remember when I was making my rounds and tried the door handle on our service truck and found both doors unlocked and the keys in the center console, which I locked and secured the keys in the store? (some sorry ass second shift mechanics doing, no doubt)...

Well, I thought to myself the idiots are probably leaving customer vehicle doors unsecured ( keep in mind we are 24 hours and there is no fence, anyone can walk up on the property)....sure enough, some were. I just locked the doors and shut 3 of them, did not even look for keys (they would have to be truly braindead to leave the keys inside, they should be in the store office with the work orders)

They better hope they are or they can get their door unlock kits out and Fords are a real PITA. I said nothing to no one, they will figure it out.

Just consider me the door fairy. As a portion of my job is kinda night security too, this will now be part of my routine. If they dont figure it out, I'll go to the boss with it.

When they get tired of doing door unlocks and making nothing off it, bet they start using common sense. There is ZERO reason or excuse why customer doors should be unsecured. I dont give a damn if they dont like it either.

My boss loves me. I never call in and I'm never late and do my job like I give a damn. I'd be embarrassed to leave my shift and make someone else come behind me and finish my job. He said it's not easy to find an overnight employee who actually shows up on time, not call in and have the store right by 6 am.

We have some good mechanics but a few of these milleniel kids are just lazy, glorified oil changers who sit on their damn phones, more than anything else. Last hour of their shifts, they are glued to the damn phone. Can't be bothered to clean the work areas, empty their trash, put up common tools (of course they manage to get THEIR personal tools secured in their toolboxes)......*exhales....OK, morning rant over....there, I feel better now :)

Nah, I'm in SW Fl. A couple overcast days but we got the Saharan dust thing going on at the same time. It rains most every afternoon here until "dry season" late fall into mid/late spring.

My job might not be the most glorious one but I treat it like I appreciate it. If I dont show up, one of several things it must be....I'm in jail, baker acted, the hospital or dead.

I now live alone, just me and the dog and my snake and I live a mile away. I have no other pressing matters or affairs in my life but work. Holidays? Shiot....I'll work a double if they want. We dont even close for hurricanes. I'd rather be at work during one, I trust that building more than my house (and it's cinder block)

And gas running out at the pumps? No Sir, not for us employees...If the tanks get down to maybe 500 gallons, fuel is employees only, at a certain point. We get roughly 8K gallons in a gas tanker delivery, between gas and diesel.

If first responders needed it, I'm sure we would share as needed but they have a fuel depot.

The last time I was looking to add dry ice to my cooler, the guy at the Ice House said it would be a waste of money. But when I lived in a tent for a few months, I used to always use it, as it seemed to make the rest of the ice last longer, as if its cold was lowering the temp of the block ice, freezing it harder (but the dry ice, itself, doesn't last as long as the blocks).

I didn't mean to change the conversation. When I hit this thread, that was the page it put me on, for some reason.

I understand you want your dry ice above the wet ice as you dont want water in contact with the dry ice. Publix grocer sells it here.

That's how I used to do it.

And this was something I added to my last post, after you'd quoted it:

LOL, I was just doing my after work rant. Unwinding with a beer. Pretty sure this thread is for random topics, just not politics (per the OP, Blessed be her name) @Smartmouthwoman :)

You sound pretty content with your job, except for some forgetful mechanics.

I am. Some customers can be dicks but I just smile and continue to be polite (unless they really push me) but most are fine. Time midnight rolls around, two hours is gone, before you know it, it's 3 am....then the 6 am whistle blows....but, I often stay beyond that, waiting on my relief to mosey on in when good and ready, but I dont complain. 80% of the time, they are on time.

We had a customer the other night pull up in front of a main pump, outside the front door. Sat there 15 minutes on the phone, finally I went out and she rolled the window down and I asked if she was getting gas. She said she was.....20 minutes later my co worker (at least until she leaves at midnight) told me tell her to move or get gas.

So I tell her "mam, you are blocking the pump and part of the main drive, can you please get your gas or you are welcome to utilize the parking lot" (plenty of it...) instead of acting like a normal person and just doing one or the other, she gets irate with me.....I just said "mam, I'm not going to argue, we just ask that you get your gas or please move"....then went inside.....she follows me in, tries arguing some more then turns her ire on my co worker.....finally pays for gas, then says "now I'm going to sit here for a half hour because yall done pissed me off"

I said, that's fine...tow truck drivers gotta make a living too. Oddly enough (after vowing to return and complain to the boss) she soon left. I told the boss all about it. He understands how rotten some can be and will stand behind us....IF we are in the right. I like all the cameras, the guy I replaced after he was there 5 years (went to drive a truck) told me, "you will find the cameras are your friend"

Some folks come in late night and think all I do is sit on my ass and ring people up....no, there's quite a bit more to it than that

    Awww man....
My friend caught me a young, wild rat to feed my rat snake. I quarantined for several days in a cage to make sure he was not poisoned. It would be evident soon enough, right?

Even though he's on death row, I gave him food and water. Just reached in to see about him, appears very docile. I petted him behind the ears and he did not attempt to bite or flee. Now I dont know if I can do it. Had one for a pet as boy for 3 years....

Unlike, mice and gerbils and hampsters, rats dont bite and try escaping constantly and are full of personality.

On one hand, it's vermin that could have disease right? But the boy in me wants to save him from his impending date with death by constrictor.
What say yall? Continue quarantine and look for ill health and if no signs, keep him?

Matter of fact, I got my pet rat as a boy in similar fashion. Pet store was out of feeder mice so we got a young rat (not much bigger than adult mice) I told my mom it was to big for the snake. A white lie.

Keep the rat and feed the snake to it.

Oh come man, you dont truly believe that do you? Snakes are beneficial creatures who would just as soon be left alone, even the 'hot' venomous ones.
